Well, assuming that JG's health condition is caused by some kind of heart monster that beats irregularly and hates Celtics basketball (as I understand it), things were admittedly looking pretty dark.

But, hey, Travis Outlaw was just waived. Travis Outlaw's year in 2008-2009 and 07-08 were what made people believe Thaddeus Young was 'a thing', or that Jeff Green could play small forward.

I say pick em up, Danny Boy!

He has to clear waivers first before we can even consider him.

We can't bid on a portion of his salary..like, the Vet minimum portion?

I guess IP's love for his binkies never dies.

Travis Outlaw was one of the very worst players in the NBA last year.  I wouldn't offer him anything more than a partially-guaranteed minimum deal, I think.

Gotta be under the cap to bid.  I suppose that he might be worth it to some team for $1 million or so per season, but I wouldn't expect much.

Another player I would have no issue bringing in on the cheap if Green is out.

I would imagine a team like Cleveland would bid on him.  For anything less than 4-5 million per year, I think Outlaw is a steal.  So, some team might get very lucky.

Outlaw on the cheap as a backup 3 works for me.

Before last year, I really liked Travis Outlaw as a player and thought if Portland was going to move either him or Batum then they should have moved Batum.

And then Outlaw played like a complete stiff both offensively and defensively last year.

I think at 27 years old he can still be what he was back in 2007-2009, especially playing with a solid, veteran group. Put him on a bad team and he will probably be what he was last year again, pretty much awful.

I don't think he's worth anywhere near the $4-$5 million a year Chris thinks he is but he's not a vet min player either. If we could land himn for the vet min I would do it if Green's "thing" is going to be long term.

We could do worse, I suppose, but I seem to recall reading that Outlaw is better at the 4.

Very overrated player. One-dimensional inefficient volume scorer. He'd be great for the minimum and a serviceable 6th man, but someone will bid on him. If not, someone will make a larger offer than the minimum.

If we signed Jeff Green and he was out for the year.. Is there a chance his deal would be fully insured? If so then that team that owns the contract doesn't have to pay for it. That might be a solid trade chip come trade deadline time.

Yeah, I expect someone will claim Outlaw off the amnesty waivers.

Never make it to free agency. And even if he did, he'd want more money than the C's can offer.

How so? He can only max out at his current contract. If whatever team he goes to pays the minimum or the full MLE, that is just taken out of Portland's portion.

He can't collect two paychecks.
