Obviously, this is a bit of a fantasy, but if Danny does really have something up his sleeve, and this Green physical does keep him eligible to be sign and traded (I really don't think it does, but its fun to think about), here is the trade that I think you need to throw out there:

Boston gets:

Paul, Okafor, and either Fernandez or Brewer (whichever NOH doesn't want)

NOH gets:

Rondo, Green, Bradley, Fernandez/Brewer, picks

Dallas gets:

JO

Now, the downside is, this eliminates the opportunity for a Paul/Howard superteam.  However, that might actually be what is necessary to get this past the owners, plus, it sounds like Howard will be going to NJ or LA anyways, so he won't be signing in Boston next summer anyways.

But, this gets the C's Paul, along with a true center, and a young wing to take Green's spot.

It gets Dallas the cap space they want next summer, as well as some extra depth at the center position in JO.

And for NOH, it gets them a couple younger guys to build around in Rondo and Green, a couple young unproven guys to sell to your fans, and a couple draft picks.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think it is extending the window.
Not sure why, maybe he's interested in making some pitch for CP3 or Howard before things start up.
Danny mentioned to the press earlier that he'd like a big that can score the ball. I'm trying to think who fits into this category that he would be willing to trade for.

Anyway, this move would be great, but I dunno if we can afford CP3 and Okafur's contracts together? Clearing Rondo and Jermaine and Bradley is only removing 18 million isn't it?(6m+10m+2m)
I think Okafur and Paul would be over 20 million combined.
I could be wrong though.
I like the idea. And I think it's very sketchy how Green still hasn't been officially signed.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

The money works, if Green is getting a deal starting at $8 million or higher, if we are getting Brewer.  He could start lower, if we are getting Fernandez.

I don't think CP3 is so much better than Rondo that we should saddle the team with Okafor's deal for the next three years.

We certainly would be extremely well positioned for this year though.

He failed a stress test in his physical, it was attributed to lack of sleep the night before. Apparently he's fine and will be at practice soon.

Green seemed fired up and annoyed about all the rumors, said that it's all BS.
