Excellent. I'd be very happy with that.

Pointless move by Orlando. Accomplishing nothing. Just doing something for the sake of doing something. Make it appear like they're making a legitimate effort to improve the squad for Dwight Howard.
Me too.

He's a bit better at everything over Davis.
Thanks for that, comparison it makes me happy.
I'm pumped to have a pf who can actually dunk.
That's 2010-2011 only. Bass' previous seasons were quite underwhelming.

Not really.  The two years in Dallas when Bass got to play, he produced just over 8 pts, 4.5 rebs and about 50% shooting in just under 20 minutes a game.  Those numbers are pretty much in line with Baby's average production, but with a much better shooting percentage.

I'd say that Baby is probably a better defender and, at his best, is superior to Bass overall.  But Bass is a significantly more efficient offensive player, is probably a bit more of a physical presence and Baby has never been able to be at his best for an entire season.

Baby will probably get more of a chance to be the player he wants to be in Orlando, while Bass will give the Celtics a more consistent and reliable effort.

Mike

That's their entire career numbers, Bass is still a solid upgrade over Glen Davis. He's a more efficient scorer and a slightly better rebounder, pretty much the same elsewhere.

He's also a better shooter from 16-23 feet, the shot that Davis couldn't make last year. The %s were similar (33/43) two years ago as well.

Davis hit 35% on those shots (taking 4 per game)
Bass hit 47% on those shots (taking 3 per game)

I'm interested to see if that percentage reflects an ability to hit that shot with hard contests or it's a result of perpetual double teams on Howard.

At 4 million a year, this is actually a really good fill of a roster space.

Im good with this move.

Yeah pretty much my take too, Baby has a higher ceiling but I think we've seen that he's not going to reach it here. (or anywhere in my opinion he needed to slim down and become more of a PF)

I've only seen Bass a handful of times.  I remember he had a great game against us recently, hitting that 15-footer and then driving by our bigs every time they came out to contest. His offensive efficiency is a few tiers above Baby's.

Anyone have a scouting report on his defensive ability/tendencies?

FWIW, he's blown Baby out of the water as perimeter shooter for the last four seasons, according to hoopdata.  Rivals KG actually for accuracy from out there (as opposed to Baby, who was closer to rivaling Rondo).

A very nice improvement for our offense if it goes through.

Look at his stats in Dallas when he was backing up Dirk. I bet they are similar.

He shot just as well in Dallas.

His TS% has been consistent around .570 range.

I would LOVE to see Brandon Bass instead of BBD
Plus BB is one keystroke shorter than BBD, saving us all energy and wear and tear on our computers

Yeah, I'm sure that guy and his son are thrilled about the prospect of acquiring Glen Davis.

Excellent news.

Orlando's taste in big men does not bode well for the inevitable Howard trade.
