I don't really see how they realistically land both of these players given the chips they have.

Can someone show the simultaneous trades that could be attractive enough to both ORL and NO using LAs current roster pieces?

(1) Chris Paul = a package based around Andrew Bynum
(2) Dwight Howard = a packaged based around Pau Gasol + Lamar Odom

According to Broussard, you have that backwards.

Then I am betting Broussard is wrong.

that DH package makes no sense for ORL (or NO for that matter).  Why wouldn't they hold on to DH and then S&T him so DH gets his best monetary package and they get some better talent.

Gasol making 20 per right now....with diminishing returns.

Pau Gasol is the second best center in the league. Lamar Odom is a top ten PF (barely). Together, they form one of the finest big man duos in the league.

There is a tremendous amount of talent there. The question is age and whether or not (1) Orlando want to enter a long term rebuilding process, or, (2) Retool on the run.

Given how inept and financially irresponsible their organization has been over the last five years ... I think it's premature to rule out the second option.

  • Rondo = Good
best guess:

Bynum + picks + any decent young player on the Lakers

for

CP3 / Ariza / filler

Odom / Gasol / Artest / picks

for

Dwight Howard / Hedo Turkoglu

reasoning for NO:

you get a talented young 7 footer and apparently the knee issues don't bother you.  you also get out of one of your more burdensome contracts.

reasoning for ORL:

you get to stay competitive as a middle-of-the-road / spoiler playoff team in the East.  you'd still have two potential All-Stars on a roster that would still have a former All-Star in jameer nelson.

ugh, im talking myself into thinking this can happen

There is no way Orlando is going into a rebuild with with Gasol as the , pardon the pun, center piece and there's no way that New Orleans takes on a second injury prone over paid center when they can't find a match to ship the one they have now out.

My guess would be Gasol goes to the Pacers to free up the pieces NO wants for Paul.

Bynum goes to Orlando with Odom going to a contender for other young pieces to go to Orlando.

Which would mean that two three-ways might be possible.

Yeah I don't really see either team wanting the Gasol + Odom package. I don't think either one gets you CP or DH.

If there is a third team that can give up some young players but still add Gasol to their core they might work as a third party but I don't know who really fits that bill.

I can't see ORL or NO wanting to take on a certain to be disgruntled Odom and an aging Gasol.
