According to an article posted on REALGM:

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/216862/Pacers_Exploring_Trade_For_Rondo

..Indiana has a real interest in Rondo.

What would we want in return?

What about Granger, Hibbert and Collison for Rondo and Baby?

The article also alludes to the possibility that a third team is being sought to facilitate the trade. Bringing that 3rd team in and figuring why they are being brought in, whom they would want and what the Cs and Pacers want is somewhat mindboggling to me given all the variables and permutations involved.

Anybody care to venture ideas on this?

I would target Paul George and Hibbert

  • Rondo = Good
I don't think the Celtics are / were interested in players on the Pacers roster.  Rather, it seems they were hoping to get Indiana involved as a third team in a trade for Chris Paul.

I think Indiana would quickly pass on that deal, but I'd take it without much hesitation.  Rondo is a lot better than Collison, but not so much better as Hibbert + Granger.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I'd take Collison (or Hill), Paul George, and a 1st in 2012.  I don't think Indy moves Hibbert.

Gives us the scoring off the bench from George (and JG) and another young, solid PG.

Future lineup (2012-13):

Collison/West
George/Ray
JGreen/Paul
J3/KG
Draft pick(s), etc.

There was talk yesterday or the day before about them wanting to move Granger.

I'd also target George Hill. That would be ironic as we just missed out on both those players in the draft. They were both gone the pick before ours, I believe, in their respective draft years. SA and IND scooped them up.

Ah, I just remembered, Danny Granger ... he's from New Orleans isn't he?

Unlike Rondo, an out-and-out scorer who can supply 20-25ppg and he grew up there? Nice idea in rebuilding the team / fan base post-Chris Paul.

That would make some sense as to why Boston are talking about Rondo with Indiana.

Roy Hibbert, Darren Collison + James Posey

Maybe you couldnt get all 3 but id say Hibbert + Collison. maybe throw in some cash aswell

Defintley a Roy Hibbert Fan and Darren Collison is more than solid as a PG

I'd rather keep Rondo and Baby.

I think all three of those players are over-valued especially Hibbert and Collison. I don't think they'd improve the squad in the short term + I feel much more comfortable building around Rondo than that trio in the long term.

At a quick glance I don't think the money matches up at all. Does it?

I would do this trade in a heartbeat:

BOS to IND: Rondo, Green (signQO),Bradley, 2012 2nd round pick
IND to BOS: Granger, Collison, Hill, George, 2012 1st round pick
Then with our 9mil/3y try to sign Chuck Hayes and S&T BBD with 2013 1st round pick to SAC for Jason Thompson

We would have:
Collison/Hill/West
Allen/Granger/West/George
Pierce/Granger/George
Garnett/Thompson/3J
O'Neal/Hayes/Thompson

Still championchips caliber team and we would still be a players in 2012 free agents poll and have a 3 first round pick in a very deep draft

I think it does.

Since the REALGM trade checker isn't up to date and can't (I don't think) figure in S&Ts, I substituted JO for BBD because a full MLE BBD about equates to approx. what JO is making, and the RR/JO scenario for Granger, Collison and Hibbert works.

I think that I would rather George Hill than Collison, though....and that works too...http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/5927925

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Give me Hill, George, Thibbert, and 2012 unprotected pick for Rondo...

Even after that I'm not sure I like the deal.

Lottery team for years to come even if we pick the next D Howard
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.
