PLUS our Clippers pick.
 to the hornets.

Trying to work out ways to get David West thrown in with CP3.

*We have to move Garnett or Ray.

*We get Ariza to replace Jeff Green but I doubt Hornets throw him in- they're giving up their best three players but they are getting back KG's huge contract off the books as well as Rondo, Green and Baby and Moore.

*They either give us Ariza or a few scrub centers eg: Anderson+Gray+one more lower level scrub.

Are we giving up too much?
Would it be better to save KG and try and use him to get Chandler?
Hollinger says we are -7 wins but that's complete BS.

EDIT:
Part of this it to make us contenders this year, but I
should also add that we can use West+Ariza+whatever in a move to grab Howard from Orlando should need be when the time arises.

Guaranteed a major reason for acquiring Paul would be to attract Howard to Boston. No way singe is adding on additional salary like west. Maybe ariza is added and then amnestied next year tho.

Yeah, me either.  I'd love to get Paul and/or Ariza here though, assuming Ariza could get his shot selection under control.

Gonna be an interesting signing period - it's going to go fast and I think there's a strong chance we get some big name player.  Looking forward to seeing how it shakes out, because I think the odds of a legit title run from the Big 4 alone are very low.

Yeah, if you ask me the answer is to get somebody who can back him up so he only has to play 25-30 minutes a night max.

Holy crap -- and you want to give away the Clipper pick??!!   :o

no thanks.
Green is much better than Ariza and cheaper. He can also play both forward positions.
KG is better than West.  He also comes off the books after this season and could be probably be resigned for much less for another year or two.
BBD is better than the nothing you're getting in his place.
Moore is a throw in for no good reason.  He's won't be much in salary and he's not of much value currently as a player.
Paul is better than Rondo but not to the tune of what we're losing by moving KG, BBD, Green and Moore.  Never mind that Clips pick.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Kg is still better than West and Ariza isn't worth jeopardizing our future capspace, especially not at the price of Ray.

How many people here have seen West play? You know he's an All Star right?
He also runs the pick and roll flawlessly with CP3.

If we can't get Dwight at least we'd have an All star PG+Power Forward.

He's 31 and he's made the all-star game twice in his career.

Thanks for telling me something I already knew.
I think it bolsters us with Pierce and Ray having CP3 and David West. if we can get Chandler or Howard here either by using West as part of the deal that would be great. If not, we still have a top power forward in the game who already knows CP3's game in and out.
People are suggesting we grab Al Jefferson but they wouldn't take David West?
He would shine on a decent team.
Each to their own I guess.
Sacrificing KG seems heartless, but I'm just trying to think of ways to sure up our chances at a legitimate title shot this year AND next year.

Sorry, I didn't get "has only been a all-star twice, and not in the last two years" from "How many people here have seen West play? You know he's an All Star right?".

Sorry, I should have worded it more carefully. 'All Star calibre player' would've been a better choice.

It's hard for me to understand why people wouldn't give up Garnett for a guy who is averaging 19 points a game and 7-8 rebounds who is very capable of scoring. There is the knee issue but he's made a full recovery and still has a good 4-5 years in the league.
I love KG but he can't give us consistent scoring in the paint.
West gives us something extra- he is an upgrade- maybe not defensively but his pros outweigh his flaws and make us a better team- particularly that he knows CP3 like the back of his hand.
I look at him as a guy who can go with Bosh, Amare and Boozer through the playoffs once KG is gone in a year or two- just speed up the process.
