Arkham City...one of the best geek out comic nerd games of all time. Fighting mechanics are pretty lame, yet still strangely fun, kinda like combat in the old Double Dragons, but still a fantastic game!
Lame & fun. When I read this, I didn't get it. Now that I've gotten the game, and played it, I do.
Arkham CityArkham City. The first time I played it, I instantly kicked hiney. It's just that easy. That's also the reason that I put the game down when enemies with guns started to appear, and I was gunned down pretty much instantly. Having never played Arkham Asylum, I wasn't familiar enough with the play style of hide-and-seek, so I tossed the game in a corner and re-activated my World of Warcraft account.
In the back of my head though, all the positive reviews and the fact that we bought a ridiculous TV kept whispering me to play some more, and at some point I sat down and played a bit more.
What an awesome game.
You have to enjoy it though. It's a bit like drinking an expensive drink: you need to sip it and let it linger, don't force it down like cheap beer.
Seriously, just walking around (I tend not to run much in that game, because it's just more fun to take your time and check the ridonkulously awesome graphics. Be Batman, the cold, slow moving, always in control 'bad' good guy. It's awesome.
So yeah, Batman is stuck in my PS3.
World of WarcraftReactivating my WoW account a couple of weeks after patch 4.3, I've enjoyed the game like I haven't enjoyed it in... years. I've played this game for 7 years now, and even met my significant other on it, whom I traveled half the world for. Yet, the game itself at some point stopped being fun. It was boring, required no skills, and generally made me long for times that had long since passed.
So what they did with this patch (or one of the things they did) is add a purely cosmetic function: you can now make your outfit look like whatever other piece of gear you can wear.
This basically meant that I could re-visit all those places, and finally wear the gear I never got to wear in the first place, because it lingered slightly out of reach.
Awesomesauce.
So yeah, back to leveling characters. Good fun. With the lady of course, who's leveling some new toons as well.
In other news: 10 bucks that I can out-nerd any of you.
