I saw the thread title and thought he resigned (retired), but actually he re-signed.

My guess is that his agent did some research and found out that no team was going to give him much more on the open market. I don't think Amendola was being charitable here.

I'm sure he & his agent saw the writing on the wall following the Hogan signing & Mitchell draft pick.

It essentially said, "renegotiate or become a cap casualty this summer".
