Hey guys, I was just thinking about ways to upgrade this team, and here's an interesting idea:

Boston Trades: Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green
Boston Receives: Darren Collison, Danny Granger

This allows Boston the flexibility they wanted out of Jeff Green (back up 3, capable of playing some 4, good from distance strong rebounder) while maintaining a dynamic young PG in Darren Collison (whose arguably just as fast as Rondo)

Collison / Delonte
Allen
Pierce
Granger / BBD ?
Garnett / JO

Indiana secures a franchise PG, a good 3/4 and gets to forward with a lineup of:

Rondo
G. Hill
Green / George
Pyscho T
Hibbert

Rondo's speed isn't really the issue, it's his skills as well. He's a much better player than Collison. Granger isn't really a pf, KG doesn't want to play center full time. It doesn't improve the team.

We traded Perk + banner 18 for Jeff Green.  We've got a backup swingman now.

No point in trading him and arguably our best player for anything other than size which we desperately need.  Definitely not interested in going smaller than we already with a SF at PF and a PF at C (Hawks-style).
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

If you want these terrible proposals to stop, then register for the 2011 Celticsblog NBA draft. I know StartOrien, it will only get worse from here.

How come everyone's so quick to dismiss this?

Is the difference between Danny Granger and Jeff Green not more significant than the difference between Rajon Rondo and Darren Collison?

  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.

Collison isn't proven as a superstar. Can he make the All Defensive first team? Can he be in the top 5 playoff triple doubles? Can he league the lead in assists for almost an entire season? Can he lead the league in steals? Can he come back from a dislocated arm because he wants to win?

I may be degrading Darren, I'm pretty sure he'll be a solid starter - but there isn't a very big age difference, and Collison doesn't have a knock-down jumper. No improvement whatsoever.

Jeff Green for Danny Granger? Now I would consider that. A great back up at the 2 and 3, but not a decent 4. Would you trade Perkins + Nate Robinson for Granger + Clippers Protected?
I like Marcus Smart

Rondo for Collison? I wouldn't trade Green for Granger either. If DA is sending Rondo to Indy (please don't do it), they'd have to include Paul George AND Roy Hibbert, and maybe take back BBD in sign and trade so they can pair him with Tyler H and have the more ping pong balls in next draft lottery.

Would Bird do that?
