I am not sure if this is in the right place, so please feel free to move it.  I was wondering why any college player would leave school early  to enter the draft this year, considering that, with the looming lockout, there may not be a season next year.  Wouldn't that mean the player would miss a year of NBA, a year of college ball, and not get paid at all?  If a player is drafted, can he still be eligible to play college ball if he has never played in the NBA?  Would a lockout make any rookie contract signed null and void?  This may be a dumb question, don't laugh....I really can't control my wandering mind.   ::)

They wouldn't get paid for the first year of their contract. But they would also get to free agency quicker. And if they all hold back from entering for a year, they could drop from a #10 pick to a #20 pick, and then loose all that cash in in the 2012-13 season due to the lower salary slot.

So if you are a hot name right now and you are possibly going to go higher than you should, you might as well enter. Its the smart financial move.

I believe once you sign with an agent you cannot play college ball.

Also instead of playing for another year and risking injury, in the event of a lockout you'll just spend that time in attack athletics injury free with Tim Grover.

Unless you're carlos boozer or vlad rad...those guys will probably break their hands while opening a jar of pickles or something.
