Lately I've been listening to a lot of Odd Future, J. Cole, Big Sean, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco (As far as hiphop goes... I do listen to other genres as well), and a couple of guys you may or may not have heard of yet... this duo is known as Chiddy Bang.

Chiddy Bang consists of Noah "Xaphoon Jones" Beresin and Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege. Xaphoon is the producer and Chiddy is the MC. The two met while attending Drexel University. I love when two talented people work exclusively with one another and make flawless music... the best example I can think of is Gang Starr.

Chiddy's rap style reminds me somewhat of Wale or B.o.B. It definitely has a poppy sound to it, but it isn't bad at all. (This will be a good group to check out if you are not a fan of the last group I recommended: Odd Future). These guys are the anti-Odd Future, although they have been supporting each other at the MTV U Woodie Awards and SXSW. Chiddy rarely swears, but he will if he needs to. He uses a lot of wordplay and references pop culture and trends. I've noticed that most of his lyrics so far are about accomplishing goals and dreams.

Xaphoon's production is what lured me in at first. Chiddy's lyricism is excellent but Xaphoon's talents are superior in my opinion. His style consists of fusing hiphop percussion with alternative synth sounds. He samples many psychedelic type artists and uses chipmunk voices like Kanye West and Dipset used to do all the time.

So far they've only released two mixtapes, two EPs, and a handful of freestyles. They were recently signed to Parlaphone/EMI and plan on releasing their full-length debut album this year. I expect the lyrical content to remain the same for their first album as they are accomplishing goals still, but I think they will grow and talk about different concepts in the future.

Well... that's about all I have to say.
Here are a few videos that they have put out and a few of my favorite songs that do not include videos.

Big fan of Chiddy Bang, Big Sean and J.Cole.  Love that the last song features XV.  He's another good one.  Mirror's Edge is great.  You listen to Big K.R.I.T at all? He's a guy ive been getting into as of late as well.

Remember this?

"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

XV is cool... I like what I've heard so far (Only about 4 songs).
I've never listened to Big K.R.I.T... one of my buddies is a huge supporter of his though, so I'm sure I'll be hearing a lot of him when I go up to visit him in Maine this summer.

I can't stand that site anymore.  It was funny initially, then they all just turned into major hollywood jerks over there.  So happy we still have informative sites like this one to read every day.
