Hopefully none of them play.  Bigger fish to fry.

Next to the pro bowl, the most meaningless waste of time in sports.

Bogut does not deserve an All Star slot this year... At all.

Nope they're probably gonna go with Horford.  I see a repeat of the 2009 game where the West just kills us with size.  That year they didn't even give the East a reserve C (plus Bosh was hurt) and when KG decided to sit the second half out that left us with Dwight as the ONLY PF/C on the roster (unless you consider Lewis a PF).

I remember a lot of Pierce and Granger playing C when Howard was sitting, and a lot of abuse by Shaq.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Who does instead?  He is averaging 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game.  And he has never been a guy who put up empty numbers.  He is one one of the best defensive centers in the league, and is a very good team player.

Even if its by default, there is no one more deserving of the second center spot than him.  The only one with even an argument is Horford, but I don't think he stacks up.

Bogut is easily the 2nd best center in the East, he deserves an all-star spot.

how nice would it be to have Pierce, Rondo, KG, and Ray coming into the game together with Doc on the sideline at the all-star game in what is the last year or two of the current big three?

Agreed. But Horford probably gets it cause of the Hawks record. I say we see 3 heat & 4 celts on that team this year. I'd be pretty surprised if Felton beats out Ray Allen for the other guard spot at this point.

I'm surprised this info hasn't leaked yet.  We're less than 2 hours away from the formal announcement.  They leaked the marquee game schedule earlier this summer the day before, and I know there have been several occasions where they leaked the MVP award early.

I guess this isn't high profile enough for the reporters to be sniffing for it.   I suspect the league has already called the players to notify them of their selections.

I personally thought Ray would have a tough time getting in since coaches aren't going to fill their sheets with all Celtics.  But on a national level he's getting tons of support.  It's not just Boston writers picking him put even commentators on NBA TV and some various non-Boston articles I read.  So hopefully he gets in.

My opinion is Ray is waiting for his ASG selection before accepting Paul's 3pt challenge.  Ray isn't Craig Hodges; he's not going to LA to compete in a 3pt shootout; he's only going to LA to be an all-star and compete in the 3pt shootout.

Hasn't Bogut been underperforming? I would go with Horford or with KG as backup C.

Bogut has had a fairly horrific offensive showing, but defensively he's been one of the best in the league. His adjusted +/- defensively is up there with KGs.

also if I'm Doc, I use this as a recruiting trip for some impressionable young all-stars - how much fun he is to play for, but how serious he takes it too

I think Ray Allen will be selected ahead of Joe Johnson.

I don't think Joe makes it this year. I am only expecting one Atlanta Hawks player, Al Horford. I think they'll need an injury replacement option to get a second player.

Four from Boston. Three from Miami. One each from Orlando, Chicago (due to injuries), Atlanta, New York and finally one from Milwaukee.
