My choices for All-Star reserves would be:

Eastern Conference
  • Two guards -Rajon Rondo and Joe Johnson
  • Two forwards - Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett
  • One center - Andrew Bogut
  • Two wild cards - Al Horford and Chris Bosh
Torn between Ray Allen and Joe Johnson. I picked Joe in the end. Ray is a very deserving candidate. He has been wonderful this season.

Sorry to leave off Boozer and Noah but I decided to leave them out due to games missed and the strong play of alternative big men

Western Conference
  • Two guards - Deron Williams and Steve Nash,
  • Two forwards - Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki
  • One center - Tyson Chandler
  • Two wild cards - Russell Westbrook, Manu Ginobili
And to replace the injured Yao Ming ... Lamar Odom Blake Griffin.

Tim Duncan was a close second for the injury replacement spot.

Edit: Ah, I forgot about Westbrook. Drop Lamar Odom from the picture. Westbrook just get selected in and Blake Griffin should be the injury replacement for Yao Ming. Westbrook is hugely deserving of his first All Star Game appearance.

I had a chance to talk with four different Eastern Conference coaches about their reserve selections, and all four said that they included the C's Big Four on their list of all-star reserves.

If Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo are all selected, it would be the first time since 2006 (Detroit Pistons) that one team had four players participating in the all-star game. It would also be the first time a Boston Celtics quartet was so honored since 1975.

David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels

I wonder if KG will make it.

We all know watching him every day how valuable he is and that he certainly has been playing like an AS.

That being said, if the players voted on it, I doubt he would make it. I just dont think this younger generation of players likes KG at all.

The coaches pick though and they should be able to recognize his impact.

Ray is also certainly on the fence but those percentages he is shooting are mindblowing. If he has made the team the last 3 years, he definitely needs to make it this year. There is always an inury or 2 so I am pretty sure he'll end up on the squad.

KG and Rondo are locks, Pierce is highly probable, and Ray Allen is 50/50 with Joe Johnson.
