Went to the Red Claws game tonight and Avery Bradley had a great game.

A. Bradley   37:09   9-15 FG   2-4 3p   4-6 ft   6 reb   8 A   9 TO   1 B   24 pts

Hit quite a few pull up jumpers and played really good D.

Didn't really notice it in the flow of the game.  I was kinda surprised when I got home and saw the box score.  I remember a couple of times the guys just were not ready for the ball when they should have been.

Here is the link to the boxscore and highlights.

Avery pretty much took over for 5 minutes or so in the 3rd.

Well, hopefully he's following the Russell Westbrook PG learning curve: super aggressive with a loose handle = high turnovers.

But it's probably more likely that he's a Gerald Green level spazz with the ball.

There's an analysis of his play in the daily links and the writer said that a lot of the turnovers really weren't his fault in that a lot of passes were dropped.

That's about one more than eight, but one less than ten. ;)

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Very encouraging numbers indeed, save for the 9 turnovers. The kid's got a long way to go to be a solid NBA player but hopefully this is the start of something good.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I'll have to keep reminding myself this dude is only 20.

I'm not expecting him to last with us regardless.

Bradley had another great game as a first time starter:
14 pts/ 7 assists/ 4 rebs/ 4-13 shooting/ 1-2 3pt%/ 5-5 FT/ and a mind blowing 9 steals ( which actually ties a D-league record )

But he really needs to work on his TO's. He had 6 TO's in the game.

It's really hard to know if you can take these games seriously.  I mean Gabe Pruitt practically dominated the Dleague and he isn't in the NBA anymore.

he is a real defensive force...and that what makes players stay in NBA...but really gotta work hard on his ballhandling...as I see he is a over avarage shooter

Seems to me like the Red Claws are the right level of play for Bradley right now.  A good combination of games and practice under the watchful eye of an Ainge coordinating with his dad.  The big question is next year.  Will he learn enough to dominate in summer league, then earn a legitimate spot in training camp?  Will league contract issues interfere with a key year for him?

A fallback position I suppose is that what they find in training camp and the preseason leads them to believe he can be in the rotation by the second half next year--or at least a backup worthy of being in the rotation.  He's got to significantly improve his pg play or jumpshot to find himself a niche.  Also, play D big enough, which I think he can, to share the court with Rondo.  The so-so play of Nate and the continuing vitality of Ray probably will combine to afford him some patience and an opportunity.  Even if DWest comes back strong, they know he's always a question mark.

I kind of thought of him as a wasted pick, but actually the only rookies picked after him doing anything of note more than him are James Anderson, Landry Fields, Solomon Alabi, Luke H, and Derick Character

I guess Quincy Pondexter and Trevor Booker have gotten a bit of play time.

Very few of those guys could help us much.

Luke H makesup for some of the sting.

It was a down year. At least we got a good defender
