Upon looking at my outdoor thermometer after getting home this morning, I decided that I just had to start this thread!

It is, (as I write this), 24 degrees below zero where I live (-24F/-31C) ... that is the coldest I can remember it being in my five-plus decades of life, (not counting wind-chills).

We also have a couple of feet of snow, (with more on the way), but that's no big deal ... we've had much more than that in recent years.

But the temperature ... enough already!! :P

I am embarassed to admit that I am cold.  It is 55 degrees right now in Clearwater, FL and I am starting to behave like all the old people I used to laugh at...layering up on clothing.   It still (after 13 years down here) seems incongruous to see people in winter coats, hats and mittens, though...  ;D  (This thin blood thing is no joke!)

The hardy Canadians are still tanning by the pool, though!

I know the cold can be hard on folks. heating is expensive and its dangerous out there for those with out the blessing of warm homes and appropriate gear, then their is the bummer of seasonal affective disorder. but, I/m loving it up here in Maine.
piles of snow on the ground and another storm forecast for wed/thursday.

I'm waxing the ski's and plotting a route on google earth.
bring it on! because this stuffs only here for a couple of months and i truly believe that the best way to survive the winter is to grasp it by the horns and ride it for all its worth.

Well, I live in the Boston area, and last fall we had a couple of rhododendrons removed from the front of the yard to open up our view of the street.  Right now the snow piles in the yard are taller than the rhododendrons ever were.

Southern New Hampshire Monday forecast:

2 degrees....feels like -12!

The weather has been killing my paycheck as well. I'm a faculty member at a high school and we had a snow day tuesday, 2 hour delay wednesday, and a snow day friday of last week (plus MLK off on Monday). Plus the week before we had a snow day on Wednesday and it looks like another might be in store mid week! Crazy.

It is a gorgeously sunny day here in Southern Maine ... not a cloud in the sky, but the temperature has only risen to 12 degrees below zero, (-12F), and the wind is now blowing, (I don't want to know what the wind-chill is). The only colder I've ever felt was on the number four T-Bar at the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, (above the headwall), but when you're skiing, any pain is a worthwhile trade-off. ;)

The thing about Florida....now it is 73 degrees, light overcast, April type breeze!  I have the windows open and am loving it.  Bad is never THAT bad, and good is terrific!

-20 this morning when I got up...no windchill though.   :)

But I decided forgoing my usual walk to work would be a good idea.

It was -33 degree Celsius yesterday... -40 degrees with the windchill. It was frigid cold...very hard to stay out for too long. Much better today..only -12.

I love it, I'd honestly hate to be in Florida. Give me a pair of mid-fats, a snowy mountain, and bluebird skies and I'm in heaven.

Although my work schedule is packed, the anticipation of skiing keeps me amped up in the wintertime.
