being a southern boy and having only visited the city of Boston one time (Easter Day 1985 to see the Celtics vs Knicks game), i obviously don't know much about the surrounding neighborhoods.

in the movie "The Town" - recently released on dvd - there are some captioned comments in the film right before the opening scene which describe Charlestown as the 'bank robbery capital of the country.' the film claims that the native residents of this neighborhood are famous for producing armed robbery crews who learn their trade at their daddy's knee - generation after generation.

of course, the movie stars and is directed by Ben Affleck, a Boston native, so i'm wondering if there may be some truth to this claim about Charlestown.

can someone educate me on this topic ??
