More Toine(this is from after the Red Claws game) :

"This is great," said Walker. "This is home for me. Even though I won a championship in Miami, Boston drafted me as a rookie and embraced me. The eight years I spent up here were tremendous. I have great friends that I have up here. I'm always going to root for the Celtics. The reception I got tonight was heartfelt, it makes you really want to work hard to get back to that level."

I am currently a season ticket holder for the Maine Red Claws. I have courtside seats and sit to the right of the basket. They are great seats and I get to see things that most people cannot see. AW looked pretty good on the floor. He still has a great court sense. His passing was excellent and he makes many of his team look better then they really are. His leg are still are not 100% but with some consistent conditining they could return. His constant complaining to the refs is his major downfall. With the new NBA rules he would definetly be hit with many technicals fouls. But, that same mouth also knows how to extertain and comunicate with fans at courtside. Could he help the celtics? Perhaps, but Danny Ainge was at neither game. This may be a sign that bad blood is still going on between the two. Honestly, I like to see it happen, but only if he plays down low, rebounds and passes as well as he did during the red claws games.

Must've been the haters who still think he blew his money solely on Gambling when it was really the Real Estate Debacle that put him DEEEP in the Red.

Bah, who cares what they say?   Just seeing him play again is a very welcome sight.   Plus, after watching the Celtics take care of business,  I can go(if there's a game) and watch a stampede game online later.  :)

So I get the Successful Celtics and later....Toine.  Nice arrangement.

Toine had a Vintage Toine(Celtics Version) Night this past Tuesday(Jan.02) against the Reno BigHorns :

25 Pts(8-12; 4-5 from 3-land; 5-6 from the stripe)
8 Rebs(4 Offensive)
5 Assists
1 Steal

He was a +9 on the night where his team won for just the 3rd time this year in a year where wins were as rare as 4-Point-Plays.

Not bad, Toine.   Not bad.  :)

Only Negative?  No Shimmy.  Oh well....

Walker plays against New Mexico this Friday.

Wouldn't 4-10 on threes be more of a "vintage Toine" line? And, while I really don't want him on the Celts, I really, really don't want him without the shimmy. That would be his main role if we re-signed him, shimmying in a fancy suit while Gino's dancing.

If that was vintage Toine then he would still be in the NBA.

Okay....maybe "vintage" shouldn't be the word I use.  Perhaps i'd be better off saying he had a Very Good night instead.

And Gino dancing would be a horrific sight indeed.  ;D

TRUE.  But he's got to be given a Chance by SOME TEAM in order for him to be "vintage".  I don't know if he'll get that shot or not....

16 pts, 3-10 in 3's, with 6 rebounds and 5 turnovers.  That's more vintage Toine.

These are a riot to read.  Boys memories are flawed with time, eh?
Vintage AW is 30% from 3P land and .425 from FG%.

He was our best for a time but it only illustrates how bad we were....

That being said, I hope the dude makes some dough to helo out with his financial woes.   But guys seriously he isn't close to being cannonized as a Celtic great.

You are correct.  No need to re-hash old(but true) arguments.   I'm just reporting that he had a Good night.  That's all.

I never said nor implied that he was a "Celtic Great".  I don't know how or where you got that impression.   He was a fan-favorite for a time when he was here but that's about it.

Forget that!

Toine with another good night against New Mexico(after having an off-night the previous night against the same team, despite having 7 Boards and dishing out 7 Assists in that game)...

28 PTS(11-19; 4-6 from 3-land; 2-3 FT)
8 Rebs(3 offensive)
5 Assists
only 1 turnover
+20 rating on the night.

I think I heard that next Monday or Tuesday is some kind of "showcase" where players would be, in the words of the Stampede announcer, "plucked up" from the team to give 10-day contracts to.   Here's to hoping that Toine makes a Good Impression that day.

I have NBA League Pass on TV so it would be great to see him on the court even if it's just for 10 days(hopefully more).  Maybe the Nets would be interested, considering that they'll end up with 'Melo, Billups, and Hamilton.  Wouldn't hurt to have a big man who can handle the ball, rebound some, and pass the ball some coming off the bench....

wishful thinking, I know.  ;D
