Genuinely saddened by this. RIP Leslie.

Who are you and how did you get in here?"
"Erm .. I'm the locksmith and I'm the locksmith"

"Like a midget at a urinal, I was going to have
to keep on my toes."

keep 'em coming ...
Stay classy, San Diego. Hello, Baxter? Baxter, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee. Is this Wilt Chamberlain? Have the decency to say something.

Man I loved the Naked Guns when I was growing up, thought they were the funniest thing ever when I was in junior high.  Not much else that I thought was hilarious back then I still find funny now, except for the Naked Guns.  Sad to see Leslie go  :'(

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

For me his best role was Airplane!

"I am serious...and stop calling me Shirley."

A hospital, what is it?
"Its a big building with lots of patients."

The man brought a lot of smiles and chuckles to me.  So many great bits in the Airplane and Naked Gun movies.  RIP.

Killed more jokes than just about anyone but a shame to lose him.  His agelessness was so comforting.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
(A woman's husband was murdered, Frank and Ed are telling her how to tell her daughter that her father is dead)
Woman: And what about my daughter? What am I going to tell her??
Ed: Tell her he went on a long trip.
Frank: No, wait a minute...tell her a big monster came and took him to daddy heaven.
(woman cries)
Frank:....Nah.
Ed: What about this..he threw himself on a grenade and saved the battalion! Yeah that's it...
Frank: No, he was killed by left wing insurgents from Paraguay.
(Woman cries harder)
Frank: No? Bolivia!
Ed: I got it..he was traded to the Cubs for Reggie Jackson!

That's from the series Police Squad!, the precursor to the Naked Gun movies. Just hilarious.

NPR's show "Fresh Air" (their entertainment show) re-ran a show they did with Leslie Nielson in 1993. Tells how he went from serious acting to comedy, tells about the man, very touching in this context. Check it out if you want to know more about the man.

Police squad was pretty funny.  The giant guy whose head was above camera (made it the Naked Gun too I believe)...
Yup

Very funny guy who gave a lot to laugh at in this world.  At the end of the day that is a pretty tall order.
