Game Notes:

This game begins a series of 5 games in 7 nights for the Celtics that includes a pair of back to backs.  This game is the first of a set of back to back games with the second being played in New York on Wednesday night.  Doc will be sitting veterans to avoid playing them in back to back games but at this point isn't sure who will or won't play.   Since the Celtics already beat this team 93-65 in their first game of the preseason, my guess is that Doc will sit a few of the vets in this one.

Doc has said that Shaq is definitely sitting out this game and that he might sit out a few more players as well.  So, I'm not even going to list a starting lineup or matchups or key players.   We may see some of the veterans, or none of them in this game.  Doc wants to rest them along with seeing more from the younger guys.

Jermaine O'Neal will likely play limited minutes again as he works his way back into game shape from his hamstring injury.   But again, Doc hasn't said for sure who will play and who won't.   Doc wants to take a look at Jermaine with the starters but he will probably hold off on that until a later game if he decides to sit other vets in this one.

One thing to look at will be the competition between the players who are on the bubble: Stephane Lasme, Mario West, and Von Wafer.  So far, Lasme has been the most impressive of the 3, and we can expect Doc to try to give this trio more playing time in the remaining games in order to help him choose the best fit for the team to fill that 15th spot.

TP to FLCeltsFan and thanks for the post!

More JO? Good - gives him a chance to get acclimated offensively, and continue with his Block Parties.

More burn for Semih too, which helps him. Get some rest, Shamrock!

Hopefully this game is a little more exciting than the first... Sixers looked pretty pathetic putting up 9 points in the first quarter and 22 in the first half... It didnt help that the only recognizable names on their roster were Kapono, Williams, Holliday and Young for the most part. They werent looking too good.

Jrue Holiday is a very nice player. Nice play Phily used there with Turner at the top of the key while Holiday curled around off a screen on the left block and got an easy layup. Holiday with his size, quickness and finishing ability is going to be a very tough cover for opposing point guards in that situation. Nate didn't come close to contesting him.

Doug Collins said he wouldn't use Thaddeus Young at the four much this season at the start of training camp. That changed quickly.

I am happy about that though. I like him as an undersized four especially on this team.

our bench is playing well against Philly’s starters.
(just looking at the box score)
what’s up with O’Neal 0-4 ??
