I think he's going to get shipped out the Nugs dont want a mess in camp with that media attention. Favors would be a good piece for them behind the often injured Martin and could take his place when his contract expires. And AK would actually give them some Defense for once but where are the points going to come from?

Diaw is not enough for AK from the Jazz IMO unless they are just trying to get someone who actually plays more than 40 games a year.

I don't see it happening...like the article says, the Nets aren't going to take Carmelo without a contract extension, and it seems unlikely that Carmelo would sign one with NJ.  If he sees it as his only shot to get out of town, it's possible though.

It sounds like an awful lot of nonsense.

Why are NJ sending Devin Harris to Charlotte? Why are Utah swapping Diaw for Kirilenko?

I don't think there is anything to this. Seems like over-reporting ... jumping the gun on early discussions and making them out to be serious when they haven't even got off the ground yet.

my guess is that looking at it on the Trade Machine that Kirilenko is one of the larger expiring contracts (which in part is what DEN is looking for).... UTA would move him for Diaw (with Miles/Milsap/Jefferson) in the frontcourt, and CHA gets a decent PG for Diaw.

DEN probably doesn't want Harris with Billups/Lawson on board.

NJ probably sends a couple #1s to DEN, maybe CHA sends a 2nd to UTA.

That all said, it could be an issue of early/over-reporting.

I could see Charlotte wanting Harris, with Augustin their only real PG and the always questionable Livingston as a backup.  And Utah definitely wants another big with Okur out for the foreseeable future and Jefferson having a history of injury problems.  Plus Kirilenko and Sloan haven't seen eye-to-eye for a long time.

I could very easily see all the teams wanting this deal, but again it hinges on Melo's willingness to sign an extension.

Without Melo do people think the Nuggets will rebuild by trying to move Billups, Nene or K-Mart.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

They should ... but I think they'll look to hold onto Billups and Nene.

Hard to evaluate without knowing what draft picks might be involved.

Terrible trade.

Melo would be better off sticking it out in Den until the offseason then being stuck in swamp land without Harris and Favors.

Having said all that I hope the Nuggets do this to stick it to Melo...but of course NJ will be the ones stuck, if they cant get a contract ext.

Just a mess.

Charlotte gives up Boris Diaw, and gets Devin Harris?  That doesn't sound like fair value.

Where's Nick to demand a veto?

Maybe Charlotte is also sending a 6th rounder.

I'd agree that sans Harris and Favors, the Nets are worse off than the Nuggets and likely miss the playoffs all together this season. But given how strongly Melo purportedly prefers New Jersey or New York, he must be banking on Chris Paul's joining him in 2011.

That's the only reason I can see to discourage Portland, Houston, etc.

Also, I'm assuming unnamed additional moving parts would better explain Utah's involvement. Otherwise, not sure I understand the attraction of adding Diaw to the Jefferson, Millsap, Okur frontcourt? Can he play extended minutes at the 3?

Presumably, Charlotte is throwing in the first round rounders to Denver. Probably two of them.

Charlotte with Devin Harris is a very solid high 47-50 win team and they would be able to build off of that base comfortably enough and become a 50-55 win team over the next couple of seasons. Those picks would likely be in the mid to high teens in the immediate future and in the low twenties in the future.

That doesn't seem like enough value to net them a Devin Harris.
