I was bored, so I made a chart of our easily tradeable assets as well as how much salary a given combination of traded players can take back in return.

The Assets:
Sheed = Rasheed Wallace. Retiring = instant cap savings
G, L = Gaffney and Lafayette. Non-guaranteed, cut for instant savings
Davis = Glen Davis. Expiring Contract, useful player but replaceable (bench player)
Perk = Kendrick Perkins. Major injury question this season, expiring contract looking for a raise next year.
ScalMax = the maximum amount Brian Scalabrine could re-sign for with a sign and trade and avoid becoming a BYC player. Such a deal needs to be a minimum of 3 years, but only year 1 must be guaranteed. The rest could be non=guaranteed; in this case Scal would instantly be a one year expiring contract (think Van Horn a couple years ago).

The Chart:
Give = whatever combination of players the C's are giving up
Salary = the combined salaries of the outgoing players
Take Back = The most combined money such a package could take back in a trade.

So, Here it is:

Give   Salary   Take Back
G,L    $1,524,390.00    $2,005,488
Davis    $3,000,004.00    $3,850,005

Sheed    $6,322,320.00    $8,002,900
Sheed, G, L    $7,846,710.00    $9,908,388
Davis, Sheed    $9,322,324.00    $11,752,905
ScalMax    $4,096,551.60    $5,220,690
ScalMax, G, L    $5,620,941.60    $7,126,177
Davis, Sheed, L, G    $10,846,714.00    $13,658,393

Perk, Davis, Sheed, ScalMax, G, L    $19,833,473.60    $24,891,842

Doesn't come out that neat in the post, but it can give you some quick ideas as to the amount of money the C's could save other teams by giving expiring deals (either instantly expiring or just 1 year contracts).

Obviously the Trade Machine works well on ESPN, but it does not include the Scal Expiring S+T wrinkle.

Nice work, TP for your time.

But how does it work with 'Sheed's trade-kicker? Does it factor into the value of the trade?

You could've included Erden as well, I'd love to get him off the roster to open up a spot for someone that may actually help (now, or ever).

But I don't think Ainge is gonna make a mega-deal, this roster is close to set. A defensive SF with shooting range is all that we need if we ink Shaq. We honestly just may let 'Sheed retire without moving him.
