What about this deal with Portland?

Sheed and Baby
for
Rudy Fernandez and Andre Miller

Andre is an actual back up point guard.  Rudy satisfies our 3 back up.

Sign Shaq and when Kendrick comes back move Jermaine to PF.

So who is going to back up KG till Perks doesn't come back (because only then would we be able to move JO to PF)?

And if we do end up bringing back West, then how will we fit Andre into the rotation with Nate, West and Avery?

Makes the Celtics way to small.

Guards that should see minutes Rondo, Ray, Nate, Miller, Rudy and Bradley

SF Pierce Daniels

PF/C  KG, Oneal, Harangody and Erden.

Shaq could only be signed for the min.  Perk is a long way away.  I guess they could sign Scali.

Trade BBD, Lafayette,Gaffney & Sheed's contract for Troy Murphy. Indiana is 10 million over the cap and needs cap relief.Murphy averaged 15 points & 10 rebounds last year.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
If we could trade Sheed for Joel Pryzbilla I'd just about love that.

Except he, like Perk, is injured.  I don't think he is expected to start the season.

Sheed's trade kicker ups his salary quite a bit. I think Sheed+Lafayette+Gaffney would probably be enough if Indy wanted to get rid of Murphy for a salary dump.

Pryzbilla is injured and won't be back until Dec. at the earliest.

Yeah, but by playoff time Perk/Przybilla would be a killer 5 rotation. Completely dominant on the boards, very solid defensively.

Andre Miller isn't a back up point guard.

Picking up Troy Murphy for that package would be sweet.  solid scorer and rebounder.  very nice 5 man rotation going into the playoffs with KG, Perk, JO, Murphy and BBD although Perk is the only true center in that bunch.

would still need another wing though and would have shipped out our best asset to get that done.

That'd be pretty good deal for the C's. I don't think its realistic though.

Am I the only one who wants to holdout on trading Sheed's contract?  Sure if we can pick up Rudy Fernandez for a future first and Gaffney/Lafayette I'm all for it.

But I don't think this is the right move to give up Sheed's contract.  The longer we wait, some team's going to get desperate, and we could get a real steal.

And if not, come Februrary, talk Sheed into one more playoff run (he will be well rested and healthy), and then we have his expriring contract to trade in the offseason once again.
