He probably wants a long term deal so he can get paid incase a lockout actually happens...

Anyone else remember a time where Tony Parker was in the discussion as one of the best PG's in the league?

Where exactly does he stand now?
Does he make the top 10? Top 15?

A healthy Parker?  Top 5 most likely.

No way.
Top 5 is probably Paul,Williams,Nash,Kidd,Rondo

Its not 2002, Kidd is not a top 5 PG anymore.  Rose is definitely ahead of Kidd at this point.
Rose has top 5 potential.

He's yet to get much better than average.

I didnt mean definitively that Rose was a top 5 PG.  But i think hes better than Kidd at this point.
Yea Kidd is not as good on offense and worse on defense. How much has billups fallen off. Where does Nelson rank? I think Russel Westbrook is probably pretty underrated as well because of where he plays and playing alongside durant.

I don't know, Rose is pretty awful on defense.

Because that's related to the topic?

Shall I mock the Pats pathetic showing against the Ravens?

I want a long term deal too. Neither of us is is gonna get it. Not a smart move at all, to say the least.

This is starting to make more sense to me. At this point, what are the Clippers options at SF?

There is Deng, but would Chicago be willing to trade deng for a protected 2nd rounder to clear space? Possible. Outside of that it's really just Jefferson, who could fit in beautifully there:

C - Kaman
PF - Griffin
SF - Richard Jefferson
SG - Eric Gordan
PG - B. Davis

He could end up getting his 4 years $40 million afterall.

Sources said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has been personally working out Jefferson in San Antonio. The free-agent forward could re-sign with the team at a number that lowers the franchise’s luxury-tax hit while guaranteeing him more money on the back end of a multiyear contract.

R.C. Buford does it again?

San Antonio wins the waiting game. Jefferson will indeed resign with the Spurs.

Free agent forward Richard Jefferson is en route to San Antonio this afternoon, where he is set to sign a long-term contract with the Spurs on Wednesday.

Details of the new deal are not yet available, but his salary next season will be well below the $15.2 million he would have been guaranteed had he not opted out of the final season of his contract with the Spurs on June 30.

The 6-foot-7 small forward, who turned 30 on June 21, surprised many when he chose to opt out. His agent, Todd Eley, explained at the time that Jefferson preferred long-term security over the uncertainty of becoming a free agent next summer, when the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement is slated to expire.

Offered w/o comment: RJ averaged 12.3 ppg last year. Last Spurs SF to surpass that number in a full season was Sean Elliott in 95-96.

So, the new deal is probably for more than four years, and for well over the $15 million owed to him.

5 years, $27 mil?

I wish I could give you minus TP's for that.  Oh and it may have not been one of the better seasons for the Pats by a large margin, but at least the Pats made the playoffs.

The Spurs won't give him 5 years, will they?  If they do, good luck with that.
