Yeah, based on the knees, I wouldn't touch Orton with a first-rounder.

Eh, the complete mediocrity was enough for me not to want him.

We need a future allstar, not a role player.  Does anyone think that James will be an allstar?  I've never seen him play, but have read about him and it doesn't seem that he'll become an elite player.  I'm sure that I'm wrong.  Anyone that's seen him play, please comment.  Pros/cons.  What do you think of him?

And the reasons are,,,,?

chances of getting an allstar are pretty slim, I mean it can happen but history tells us we are looking for a role player not an allstar. I think its a mistake to shoot for high potential long shots when a guy who at least will be a role player and could potentially be a starter is sitting on the board,

The chances of getting an all star at 19 are pretty slim. At that point it is best to take the BPA.

Yeah, while I agree that the Celtics really need to do whatever it takes to try to get some core players for the future, not just bench guys who might have some trade value, the fact is the only guys in the draft who clearly have All-Star potential are the top 4-5 players.  After that, it's all a crap shoot.

If the Celtics really are going to try to contend for another year, and not blow it all up this summer, they need to draft for immediate impact, not long term potential.

I don't like anyone outside of the top 5 or 6 this year. James will be an NBA non-factor IMO.

I have watched tons of Longhorn games and love Damion James game.  He is a great all around player, good rebounder, plays good defense.  He could have declared as a jr but came back for his sr year, Texas was suposed to have been a final 4 contender.
He was also forced to handle the ball more than he should for Texas due to the Longhorns not having a legit pg for most of his career.

I would love to have him on this team.

heard that song and dance plenty of times around here before...

Sorry, but we NEEDED James on this team.  We will regret this, I'm afraid.

How did we NEED another undersized PF when we have Garnett and Big Baby already?

are you justifying this by approving of danny's drafting of an undersized shooting guard?

yeah.  I liked James for us.  Gotta assume he's aware of what he's passed on and how to make up for it going forward.  Bradley can help too.

James may have played the 4 at Texas, but I see him more as a 3 in the NBA.  He could have been the backup wing we have been looking for.  He also is a much more NBA ready than Bradley.  He would provide rebounding help and runs the floor well.  He would benifit a ton by playing with Rondo.
