Here's the thing. 30 people join. Everyone gets a team. Then we do the draft and you are the team's GM. You have the same players as the current team, you have the same salary cap situation. Trades can be made but have to be successful per the NBA CBA.

We can do the mock draft Wednesday night, that way if there are any trades between now and then the drafting order will be as close to real as possible. Once I get 30 people to commit to doing this I will hold a random selection of teams and people can start being their GM as soon as all team GMs are announced.

Mock draft would start at 7:00 PM EST. 5 minutes per pick in the first round. 2 minutes per pick in the second round. The second round would start at 9:45PM EST or 15 minutes after the conclusion of the 1st round.

Then when it's done on Friday morning we can compare it to the results of the real draft and see which owners got it right and which may have done better or worse than the real GMs.

Any takers? I will list your names here until we get to 30. I will need extras because you have to be able to commit to doing this Wednesday night. If for some reason someone isn't here to make the pick the alternative owner will immediately take over the team.

I know absolutely nothing about this year's incoming draft class, but I'm a sucker for these mock-GM things. I'm game.

Even so. Smart guy like you, just peruse the DraftExpress and NBADraftNet sites for about an hour and you aren't going to be any more or less wrong or right than anyone else.

I stopped reading after this.

I'm on the West Coast, so it may be better for me to take a team that doesn't have a 1st rounder, as I will need to leave work and head home after pick #12 is made. Won't be back online until the very end of the 1st.

No problem.

I'll talk to the random team selector and see if he can arrange that.

It's pretty much random selection Joe so I can't guarantee you a team above a certain pick. I can make sure Lucky17 gets a team out of the first round because he has time restraints and because no one usually wants teams without a first round pick. I can't, however, guarantee teams high in the first round as most people might want them.

That said if we are looking like we are going to be short on people and no one else minds, I'll let you have Memphis.

So are you in?
