This is not a good ref assignment for conspiracy theorists.

One checkmark in the conspiracy theory column is how much better the reffing got after the series was pretty much guaranteed to go 6 or 7 games after game 3 with the same guys reffing games.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the same crew that reffed game 6 of the Orlando series.  Granted, the game was in Boston, but I thought it was reffed fairly well, if memory serves.

You had Mike Callahan instead of Joe DaRosa who had been suspended for throwing a ball at a fan.

I hope DeRosa throws the ball at Jack.

 ;)

W... WHAT?!? I *SO* expected Salvatore & Crawford!!!

i expected salvatore tonight also...where has beveta been so far???

I don't think Bavetta has been around at least the last two rounds, and perhaps the whole playoffs.  It's been curious.  I wonder if he is hurt, or if he has simply fallen out of favor with the league.

Anyways, I am pleasantly surprised with this group.  It is definitely not the worst group I have ever seen.  I still expect tonight to be called very tight, but I am feeling a little better about it right now.

Word is that Bavetta is quietly being nudged out to pasture...I think he turned 70 this year which is probably what drove the league to do it.

Bavetta didn't make the cut for the finals. They may be looking to retire him.

  • 7 + 11 = 18

It would be a pleasant surprise if the league actually reffed this game fairly but it's wishful thinking.

Let's see how many off ball whistles are called on us and how many 50/50 calls we lose.

This helps the conspiracy theorist... this is the game LAL will win, then they have their lock down crew to see LAL home.

Celtics need to blow things out and make it comfortable early, so the refs cannot be a factor.

I wouldn't attribute that to conspiracy. I'd attribute that to the outcry over unwatchable basketball.

I wrote this in another thread but for those worried...

The refs for game six in 2008 were Joey Crawford, Bennett Salvatore and Eddie F. Rush. And we won that in a blowout.

Our guys know what they have to do.

TP for that uplifting bit of information.  If the Celtics could win with that crew, they can win with any crew.....

Game 4 2008.  Do not get discouraged if the Fakers come out strong!
