Bowie is a good one. He had a better career than a lot of people realize but everyone thought he was going to be insanely good.

i can't believe no one has mentioned danny ferry - college player of the year in 1990 (?), i think. he was one in a long line of big white shooting forwards who were going to be the next Larry.

God yes.  I though he would be a very solid role player for someone.  Did he even play in the regular season?

Didn't he get drafted by the Clips, refuse to play for them and end up in Europe for a year or two before they sent him to the Cavs?

I think we can pretty much just say Duke, with the exception of Elton Brand and Grant Hills respective first five years.

I agree with Duke except that I thought Redick would be where he is now or a little worse even. Actually, let's go through this, with whether they've met, overshot, or undershot what I thought would happen, which is different than what the media thought, as I think they tend to overrate dukies, and i often swing too far and underrate them.

Cherokee Parks - n/a
Eric Meek - n/a
Mcleod - n/a
Brand - Met
Langdon - Worse
Maggette - Better
Avery - Worse
Carawell - N/A
Battier - Met
Jay Williams - n/a
Dunleavy - Met
Boozer - Better
Dahntay Jones - Met
Deng - Worse
Duhon - Better (he actually started some NBA games, whether deservedly or not. I never thought that would happen).
ewing - Met
Sheldon - Met
Reddick - Met/a little better (or it's just that I thought he'd be slightly better than Adam Morrison and neither would be a starter...but he's a LOT better than Morrision, but that could just be because Morrision is SO bad).
McRoberts - Worse (thought he'd be a poor man's Dunleavy/Jeff Green, getting 15 mpg for all-around team/athletic things)

As an older guy from Big Ten country, how about Steve Alford (Indiana), Dennis Hopson (OH State), Joe Barry Carrol (Purdue), Rumeal Robinson (Michigan).

Some other guys: Kenny Anderson (GT), Pearl Washington (Syracuse), JR Reid (UNC).

Sebastian Telfair - Loved his game, thought he would be a Chris Paul type player

Amir Johnson - I wanted the Cs to draft him, thought he would be a Josh Smith type player

EDIT: Didn't realize it was only college players  :-\
