Forum Load/Refresh Problems?

Is anyone else getting a long delay in reloading/refreshing pages, signing into the forums, or posting?!? (Or is it a problem specific to moi?) Thanks and TP in advance!

Yea, I've had problems with the forums too....and I've tried everything that Google advises....in the end, patience is the only solution.

Like a 15 second lag to refresh or post, and it was not this way years past, think: '08 playoff game thread(s) ... Frustrating, to say the least !

Better this morning ... hopefully the game thread will hang tough. Last night was pretty bad.

We're having SBN look into it.  If the problem continues, we'll implement some ideas related to restricting traffic from guests, etc.  However, that's certainly not an ideal solution.

In the meantime, I'll fall back on some old Bob Day requests.  Please:

1.  Do not open more than one browser window / tab at the same time;

2.  Please do not constantly hit "refresh", especially in the game thread.  If possible, please wait approximately 30 to 60 seconds between refreshing pages if you're not actively posting.

This will cut down on some of the server load while SBN gets some of these things sorted out.

As an update, SBN is actively looking at the issue and is trying to resolve it.  No guarantees regarding a fix, although I will say that the game thread was a lot smoother in Game 3.

Just updating ... I'm still finding it extremely slow at times, as are others I have talked to. I know you folks are doing what you can, just wanted you to know from our end. Anyone else still having problems?

At this point, SBN knows there's a problem, they're just working on a fix.  Please have patience; we understand how frustrating forum slowdown can be in the Forums.  If anybody wants to report the problem to them directly, support can be reached at support@sbn.com.  However, they currently have two open "tickets" related to this issue, so there's not much else that can be done, from the reporting end.

In addition to the requests above (that everybody slow down, keep only one browser window open, etc.), for people who frequent the game thread, please turn off the option to be warned upon others' replies.

To do this:  Go to your profile, click on "look and layout preferences", and check the box that says "Don't warn on new replies made while posting."

The site can generally handle the numbers of users we're seeing.  What it can't handle is several hundred people clicking refresh and/or trying to post their message (and reposting, and reposting as it's not going through due to the "warning" about replies.)

There may very well be slowdown issues not related to the above, but regarding the gamethreads, I think high activity is the culprit.

Roy, Bahku - thanks. I followed the steps in Roy's message. I hope they can get it working - our Dream Matchup with LA coming up and all.
