Try to type "Village of the danged" as it supposed to. Or try to use Jack Bauer's favorite phrase, "dangit", like it's supposed to.

Is your favorite band the [dang] Yankees by any chance?

Quite ridiculous, and quite extreme in this case. I'm more annoyed that it actually changes to a word I wouldn't be caught dead using.

Jeff isn't a fan of the word.  He considers it profanity.

Rather than edit it out every time we see it (which is a dang pain in the butt), we've automatically edited it to something more palatable, that still expresses the same meaning.

That's probably because of the times it's used after "God". Which is understandable. But the word itself is not a bad one, I'd rather it be completely censored and me then editing it as I see fit rather than put words in my paragraphs that I might not see, which misrepresent how I express myself.

The problem with editing out minor swear words completely is that they all come out as "****", which looks worse than intended, and can lead to misunderstandings with the staff.

The easiest solution is to just try to keep your language as clean as possible, even if it's a 1950 version of clean rather than a 2010 version.

I agree with you personally and have no problem with the word at all, but I guess many people consider the word even on its own to be a from of mild profanity:

The word "dang" or phrase "****n" are widely used as a mild profanity.

Hahaha.  I just stupidly didn't realize that the word would be edited in my quote as well.  Anyway, it's considered to be a form of mild profanity.
