i like tom cruise the actor, but dont like tom cruise the man.

the last samurai is my fav movie of his, by far!
I just personally did not care for his treatment of Brooke Shields and Matt Lauer.  He was extremely rude and came off as a complete "Know-it-all" instead of just stating his beliefs.

which is why i like the actor but not the man.

And that's my feelings exactly.  No one has mentioned "Born on the 4th of July"?

Interview With a Vampire is another very good movie with Cruise in it. Also I don't know how anyone can not like Top Gun. I'm also a fan of Cocktail.

I actually didn't think I liked many movies he was in until I read some of the posts. Vanilla Sky, Magnolia, Jerry Maguire, Rainman, these are movies I can watch multiple times

And yet no one else but me has mentioned The Color of Money. I can't be the only one to have seen it.

TC in the "Vince" T-shirt, singing "Werewolves of London." Absolutely nails the role.

While not my favorite he's been in some movies I liked. Some were already mentioned but I would add Risky Business, and I personally thought he was really funny in Tropic Thunder.
It's almost impossible to be in as many movies as he's been and not like any of them.

Yep. He's at the top for the last 30 years. Nobody can take that from him.

Dang it all, I almost got to be the one remembering Risky Business, can't believe the thread went so far without a mention....Color of Money and Born on Fourth of July, both good and both mentioned previously to the not-being-mentioned post.

I loved Eyes Wide Shut.  The movie creeped me out so bad that my roommate was able to torture me just by humming that weird music from that weird place....I'm a huge Stanley Kubrick fan, but I expected not to like Eyes due to reviews and due to Tom Cruise being in it.  Well, the movie was so strong it just took all the Tom out of Tom....I mean, it didn't matter, you could sit there knowing it was Tom Cruise and not caring (his persona became irrevelant or just dissolved completely or something..)...

Anyway, I've liked Tom being Tom in lots of movies....Risky Business near the top.
I liked Jerry Maguire, but the Tom factor was a bit strong....(when he overdoes the angry outburst thing it weakens his performance imo).

I'm impartial to Tom Cruise.

However, I do like making fun of him as much as the next person I guess.

I have no liked a Tom Cruise movie since like....I mean really forever.

No longer. It's not some arrogant social statement. It's not some weird drama. It is just a plain old action flick with some love interest thrown in. If nothing else, it's a heck of a trailer.

Although, obligatory Tom Cruise joke...I imagine his courtship of Katie Holmes went something like what happens around 2:00 mins.

This looks a bit similar and also interesting movie:

+1 for Killers for having Talking Heads on the soundtrack. TP for the heads up.

Now I wonder which movie copied which.
