This is not looking good ... man, I can't believe we keep giving up big leads ... it's like some kind of Boston sports virus.

Wow ... can't believe we give another lead up in Boston. Please, Celtics ... don't to this same thing to us ... we know you will break the pattern.

Well, they are starting to look like a baseball team again!  Lester and Clay have been great.  The bats are starting to come alive.  For all the people who said we were dead, we're only 3 games behind the Yankees with 115 games left.  Are we better than Tampa Bay?  Absolutely not.  Can we beat the Yankees?  Absolutely.  Next few weeks will be very interesting for the Sox.  With Ellsbury back and Cameron on his way, we'll get to see what this team was supposed to look like.  We'll also get to see what happens with Beckett's health.
do it

Meanwhile the Sox have righted the ship and are cranking along despite missing two thirds of their outfield and two fifths of their rotation.

Last I checked they were within percentage points of having the 3rd best record in the majors AND their division.

I had an opportunity to go to tonights game last minute, but I'm too darn tired from all of the Celts games.

Big Papi's mashing again.  GO SOX!  BEAT LA (just doesn't quite work the same, does it?)
Yup

Wow what a night for Pedroia tonight.  THREE HOME RUNS!

On a night where the Sox where struggling, with Paps blowing a save for the second night in a row and the Sox in need of a big win Pedroia steps up and was huge.

Hat-Trick for my man Dustin ... I love that kid! My favorite player since Yaz, (sans pitchers). Red Sox are going much farther than many thought this year ... deep and strong, and I can't wait til post-season. Go Sox!!

Yeah these injuries are getting ridiculous.  Thank god the All-Star break is coming up so the guys can have time to rest.

3 days off seems really small in the middle of a 6 week injury :/

3 days off is a wonders in baseball.  It will allow rest for our healthy guys too though.

Regarding the loss of Pedroia/ V-Mart. I take comfort in the fact that only two years ago the Rays won 97 games with the 9th rated AL offense.

Some other random notes that I find interesting:

Beltre has played himself into Type A free agent status.

Jed Lowrie is set to begin a rehab assignment at Lowell in the next few days.

Lars Anderson after a slow start at Pawtucket is OPSing .982 over the last ten games.

Jason Bay has 6 homeruns so far this year and Mark Teixeira is OPSing .767, 18th among starting 1Bmen.

Dice-K really needs to get his act together and learn how to throw strikes.  No way we shoulda lost this game up chasing Garza from the game in the third inning.

Thank you Dice-K!

You know who really needs to step up?

John Lackey. He is not pitching well this year at all.

He is definitely not worth 85 million dollars.

He only has 9 wins because we score so many runs for him. He gives up too many runs, too many hits (135 in 113 innings), and is walking almost 4 batters (3.66) per 9 innings.

Theo got lucky with Beltre's play and some of the play from our PawSox....really lucky.

Poor investment for Lackey right now on display.
