Leandro Barbosa

For

Tony Allen and Scal for and maybe a 2nd round pick.

I know everyone is infatuated with the play of Tony lately and so Am I. I really think Tony can make a difference for this team but i would have to think very hard about this trade. Gives us a scorer off the bench and some who can spread drive and dish for Eddie. So just wondering what people though of this idea.

No, I'd rather let Allen and Scal expire and keep some financial room. Maybe I'd do it in a scenario where I could keep adding to the pay-roll till 2012.

Would Phoenix do this: Giddens + Top 3 protected 1st for Jared Dudley?

Isn't Barbosa out for at least a month?

We don't need another hurt body on this team right now.  At least TA and Scal can be on the court right now.

Plus I really don't see Barbsa as a significant upgrade on TA. Also, it should be noted that he's due to make over $6.5 million next year too.  Overpriced bench player who hurts our cap flexibility.

I love Leandro Barbosa. He is my starting PG in my Dynasty on NBA Live 2005. lol...

He's only rated like a 65 but somehow he never misses and averages triples doubles like Rondo.

this is my team:

PG: Leandro Barbosa / Carlos Arroyo
SG: Dwyane Wade / Kevin Martin / DeShaun Stevenson / Roger Mason Jr.
SF: LeBron James / Ricky Davis / Matt Barnes
PF: Amare Stoudemire / Emeka Okafor
C:  Yao Ming / Dwight Howard

I somehow got that team through a legitimate draft... I don't know how.

This has nothing to do with the real Leandro Barbosa...
in real life I wouldn't do this, I think we would need more than Barbosa if we plan on doing anything in the playoffs. I think Tony could real help us when we get there.

Jared Dudley, a role player for a 1st?  Not good value for Boston.  Really the Barbosa trade is bad.  Barbosa is a slightly better Eddie House.  If you are looking for a distributor ... keep looking.

Odds are its a 1st rounder near the end of the round.  Not sure if you're gonna get someone at that slot who is going to be exponentially better than Dudley.

Personally, I'd love to see Dudley back in Boston.  The kid has developed into a bonafide role player in these league and can be a bit flexible position-wise.  I think he'd be a good fit off this bench.  He's low cost for next season too which would be a plus.

The question is really whether Phoenix would do this.  It depends on how fiscally tight they want to really get, I guess.  They'd be trimming over $4 million from next year (by my numbers if you include the luxury tax) and it does seem like every cent counts with that organization.  The 1st rounder might be enough to entice them.

What are the chances of getting a better player than Dudley with our pick? The "top 3 protected" is just a formality, we'll be drafting in the 25-30 range.

Thinking about it I would rather have Allen just wondering what people think.

Not a single Celtic player on your team? You should be banned from Celticsblog...

Just kidding, but I do believe that you fairly made that team.
I always had fun finding ways to trade role players for all stars. Awhile back I joking offered a package something like Ray,Perk and Giddens for Kobe...trade accepted. They never could make that stuff realistic. Same thing with free agency - 45 year old Iverson still wants 10-15 mil per year
Can't stop, Rondo!

Giddens was a bad pick.  25-30 is still something, and Dudley was picked 22nd anyway.  The first is not overly valuable granted - but in this year's draft players in that area could be something like Devin Ebanks or Dexter Pittman or Gani Lawal - extreme upside plays and Danny has had a knack for finding value in the draft, Giddens notwithstanding.
