Right now we are on track for another Celtics team to be limping in the playoffs due to Doc running Ray, Paul and Rondo into the ground during the regular season. We have no bench, no cap flexibility for next year or any attractive pieces to move. How Danny and Doc think that this team as is has a legit shot at winning a championship is beyond me. You think I'm panicking? Hardly. Am I disgusted with our effort? Absolutely.

The only thing i'm concerened about right now with the regular season is I want our starters to be healthy. With the minutes Ray, Paul and Rondo have been playing we are in for another 7 game first round series like last year. Unless we do something with our bench NOW!

We need a bench right and Eddie House is a one dimensional player who if isn't shooting well adds nothing to the equation, he needs to go. If Bill Walker or J.R Giddens aren't going to see time on the floor to rest Ray or Paul they need to go. Scalabrine is nothing more then a "fan identification player" to me and doesn't do enough positives to outweigh the fact that the guy isn't that good he needs to go. Then there is Tony Allen who will make a great defensive play, who then turns the ball over off his knee on a fast break...he needs to go.

Our bench pales in comparison to elite teams such as the Lakers, Spurs, Cavs and Magic. All of those teams (minus the Spurs) are significantly younger than us and have better benches. So how are we going to bring the chip back home to Boston this year?

There are a few courses of action we could take that would improve our bench quality wise imo. Theyre not the greatest options but its better then what we got now right?

Trade #1:

Bos - GS - NJ

BOS

Outgoing:

Scalabrine
Tony Allen
Eddie House
J.R Giddens

Incoming:

Keyon Dooling
Raja Bell

Why: It gives us what we've been lacking a combo guard who can score in Dooling and a Defensive guru and 3pt specialist in Bell who can finally let Paul,Ray, Rondo rest. Doc would actually play these guys. Now our second unit is Dooling - Daniels - Bell - Baby - Sheed ...undersized? yes but at least they can score BUT more importantly give our starters rest.

Golden State

Outgoing:
Raja Bell

Incoming:
Eddie House
Tony Allen

Why: Theyre not gonna make the playoffs, they don't play defense. Nelly loves guys that can shoot & run, Eddie is that guy and Tony well...he can at least run right?

New Jersey

Outgoing:
Keyon Dooling

Incoming:
Brain Scalabrine
J.R Giddens

Why: Their season is over, theyre waiting for the draft lottery. They get expiring contracts for even more cap room for 2010.

Trade 2

BOS

Outgoing
Scalabrine
T. Allen
House

Incoming
Corey Magette

Why: Yes i HATE Corey Magette, really i do...but he can score, play both wing positions and maybe with a fire under his ass he can actually play some defense. Bad news is we'd have to find some sort of option at PG...no Larry Hughes even if you do get bought out one headcase is enough.

GS

Incoming
Scalabrine
T. Allen
House

Outgoing
Corey Magette

Why: They want cap space...and they want someone desperate enough to take Corey off their hands...someone like us.

My fellow Cs fans I could keep going, but you get the idea we need a MAJOR shakeup right NOW! I'm not panicking, i'm being a realest we need way more fire power off the bench...instead of saving cap room lets go all IN right now!

How about we just wait for those guys to get bought out by their teams after the trade deadline?

The C's can't afford to gut their bench for an injured guy (Bell won't be back for a while), and a mediocre backup PG.  It would make them even more vulnerable in the short-term, and not help much in the long-term.

But if Bell does get healthy, he would be a main target of mine once he gets bought out by Golden State (which WILL happen if he is not used as part of a trade before that).
