Rasheed Wallace played for the Pistons from 2003-09 and won an NBA championship with the Pistons in 2004
Pistons Head Coach John Keuster was an assistant coach with the Celtics from 1995-97
Chucky Atkins played in 24 games for the Celtics in the 2003-04 season

Key Matchups
vs
Rajon Rondo vs Rodney Stuckey
The Pistons have had a lot of problems and questions but one thing is for sure, they see Rodney Stuckey as their point guard of the future.  We have seen in many games that as Rondo goes, so go the Celtics.  The Celtics need Rondo to be aggressive and to set the tempo the team.

  vs
Ray Allen vs Rip Hamilton
Hamilton is one of the few Pistons who remains from the old days.  There have been some good battles between these two shooting guards, both of whom are very good at running off screens.  Rip is the reason that Ray began wearing the shooting sleeve because 2 years ago in the playoffs, Rip was digging Ray's arm up with his long fingernails.   It would really help the Celtics if Ray could get his shot back on track.

Honorable Mention
Rasheed Wallace vs Chris Wilcox
This is Sheed's first game versus his former team.  He wouldn't be human if he didn't want to give them a good beat down.  Look for Sheed to be motivated in this game.

Game Notes

• Celtics won the season series 3-1 against Detroit in 2008-09
• Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 15.5 points per game last season
• Rip Hamilton averaged 13.5 points per game against the C’s last season
• It marked the second straight year that the Celtics had won the season series and the first time that it had done so since the 1994-95 and 1995-96
seasons
• The Celtics are leading the all-time series 221-121 with the Celtics 106-38 at home

The Pistons have been struggling this season as they rebuild.   They signed Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva  over the summer  but things haven't worked out for them as they hoped.  They are hoping to make a splash in the big 2010 free agent marked and are just biding their time until then.

However, the Pistons shouldn't be taken for granted.  They are capable of beating some good teams as they have already beaten the Hawks and the Magic.  The Celtics must take this team seriously and must come out strong to begin the game and they have to play hard for 48 minutes.

Keys to the Game
Defense
Play 48 minutes
Run the Offense
Attack the Basket

X-Factor   Focus - especially on the defensive end.

Piston fan here!

Should be an interesting game for the Detroit playing against Rasheed in a Boston uniform for the first time.

The Pistons have a horrible record this season, but that is in large part due to injuries. I don't think their has beena single game where this team has been at full strength.

Gordon has missed 15 games.
Tayshaun has missed 31 games.
Hamilton has missed 27 games.
Will Bynum has missed 13 games.

Then you add the fact that this is a team in transition, with a new coach and revamped roster, it has been a tough season.

It's gonna be a tough match up for Rondo, Billups is so big and strong..... oh.

Well Pierce is gonna have his hands full with Teyshaun guarding hi.... um....

Well you never know when Rasheed is gonna go off... oh yea he's with us.

Good thing they signed Ben Gordon... oh he might not play either?

In all seriousness these are the games that seem to give us the most trouble. Go C's.

I expect this game to be an easy win but you never know, the Pistons can play very well against good competition sometimes. Especially if Gordon is playing...

Anyway, it will be interesting to see how Sheed is greeted by the crowd, I'm definitely looking forward to Sheed's return in Detroit!

TP FL and go Celtics, let's start a winning streak!

Meh. 50/50 wether we win this or not with how we've been playing recently, even though it *should* be 90/10.

Thanks for the Post, FLCeltsFan and TP4U!

After the Dallas Debacle, I expect Boston to come out strong. If not, I am guessing that KG will implode by not being able to play and help us, lol....

I'm expecting a solid win in this one.  It's on the road and there's just too many injuries to key guys on that Pistons roster.

Stuckey is definitely the guy who makes the Pistons go.

It's unfortunate that Celtics Fans now see playing a horrible, depleted Piston team as good news but here it is ---

The Pistons have lost 14 out of 17 and are a terrible team that has been decimated by injuries.  Bynum, Prince and noted Celtics killer Ben Gordon are out tonight.

The Celtics will be playing only their second game in the last 6 days so again are well rested.  They are playing a terrible team that is missing more key players than they are.  The C's desperately need this win though, as easy as it should be.  The team has lost confidence and is playing with no urgency right now.

This win tonight will hopefully give the C's some momentum heading into their difficult upcoming schedule.  Even against a team as bad as Detroit, it could be the shot in the arm that this struggling team needs...
