Wednesday evening, I screened "Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo" for my father.  Fascinating to see Mifune and Katsu acting together in many scenes, even if the script was a tad scattered at times.  Prior to that, I viewed the most recent Jim Jarmusch film, "Only Lovers Live Forever" which I found to be a tad disappointing.  Maybe I was pre-suckered by film reviews comparing it to "Dead Man" and "Ghost Dog."

You have good taste in film -- even if I can't find myself enjoying Jarmusch films as much as I'd like.

Just watched Hotel Budapest after giving Wes Anderson's one-movie-made-several-times a long break. Was pleasantly surprised at the maturity and shift.

Thanks, I like Jarmusch, but "Dead Man" is the only film of his that I'm crazy about.  "Ghost Dog" is pretty good, however, and it does capture the better half of the samurai ethos quite well.

The only Wes Anderson film I've seen is "Darjeeling Express" which I found to be enjoyable, but not especially profound.  Which do you prefer, the "ensemble" style of Anderson, or Robert Altman?

I tend to gravitate to art-house, indie, foreign and documentary films.  Not normally much impressed with big studio releases, but "Gravity" and especially "Inception" are two such films from recent years which I loved...looking forward to Chris Nolan's "Interstellar" which is out in November.  :)

I watched "Flashdance" last night on Netflix. Good movie. All about going for your dreams and dancing with water.

Saw Alien last night on the big screen at the Joy Theater in Tigard Oregon.  Admission was one whole dollar.

Talk about a dollar well spent.  Aliens is one of my favorite movies.

I saw The Hangover Part III on TV last night. A great example of what happens when writers and producers have run out of ideas and make a really tired rehash. I hope there's not a fourth one.

Watched Silver Linings Playbook for the first time. Man what a great movie. Absolutely hilarious I couldn't stop laughing and didnt realize it was such a comedy. Oh yeah, and JLaw is pretty smokin'.

Cooper played the role fantastically. Great movie all around.

have it on DVR and have put off watching it because I thought it was a supposed to be a dry drama.  now that I know it has some humor, I'll make a point of catching this.  thanks for the enlightenment

Yeah I kinda did the same thing myself in putting it off, thinking it would be too dry and too dramatic. It certainly has the drama aspect to it but I was surprised at the amount of times I literally laughed out loud throughout the movie. It was great.
