I posted this in another thread the other day that never really took off, but check this out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRHPSYq5_5w

You hear the analysts give there opinions about the kind of player Bias is and how he'll fit in with Boston, and there's an interview with Len, and an interview with Red.  Helps give a little background to the moment and how excited everybody was and what everybody thought at the time.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I'm gonna watch this, and I'm gonna be sad, then angry, then frustrated. Then I will watch a live game where we blow them apart, and I will be a little less sad, but not much less angry or frustrated.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Get drafted by the world champs and blow coke up your nose, really intelligent....

Drug abuse, then and now, affects people of every race, age and creed ... intelligence or social status has nothing to do with it. He made a mistake, like all of us do from time-to-time ... unfortunately that mistake took his life. RIP, Len.

There was a death in my family that was caused by drug use/abuse. The person that died was certainly not unintelligent, he was actually very bright. He just had issues, you know, stuff that had followed him his entire life. Bad stuff. TP for you, B.

Yeah ... it's a shame it's on the same time as the game ... have to DVR it or wait until Thursday ... it's on twice on the 5th, and weekend and next week, too.

I don't think I can watch it.
I do want to tread lightly with the following disclosure, but having gone to college in the late 70's and having been a single guy in his 20's throughout the early 80's, cocaine had become an amazingly commonplace recreational drug in many social circles (including mine even though my circle was not a heavy drug using circle).  From '78 to '86, I was in too many dorm rooms and too many parties to count in which cocaine was present and available (usually I did not partake).  It was also expensive and though I did use it in very small amounts once in a while during that time period, I would not have considered my use a problem of any kind.  It seemed harmless and I wouldn't have believed anyone who would have told me differntly at the time. I'd go months without even thinking about using it. I can tell you that the purity of the product was always questionable, and often was cut with speed or speed like products and I do remember a night with my heart racing and pounding, praying for morning.  When Bias died, that was it for me and for my friends - none of us ever used the drug again.
A crying shame that he died at such a young age, unable to grow up and experience a full life.  My guess is that his death saved the lives of many others.

Got the DVR ready to go on this.  Might watch it later tonight or tomorrow.

I want to watch it but I know once I start watching it, anger and frustration will come over me.

It's a shame Bias 'could have been something very special'
and choose to destroy his life by drugs.

No one will ever know if he was to destined to become 'Jordan-esque'.

He didn't "choose" to die ... it was the first time he ever did coke.

I'm not sure I buy the idea that it was the first time he ever did coke.
