in other news, Time Warner Cable is really killing me right now.  my signal keeps dying and I can't watch for a stretch of 4 mins or so.  really sux.  they diagnosed it (over the phone) as a problem with the box.  they will be here between 2-6pm on Tuesday to fix/ replace -- i told them it better be up and running by 4:30pm on Tuesday.   >:(  >:(  >:(

Oh, man ... I would SUE if they don't fix it by then! I think missing opening games is an NBA crime, so it would be their crime by default, (or should be!) I'll say a prayer, my friend ... seriously.

Thanks.  I have just finished searching old CB posts for the names of NYC sports bars that are boston friendly (we just moved to NYC in July).  Someone suggested Professor Thoms, so maybe I'll give that a try, and let my wife deal with the cable guy.  I dunno.  Sort of annoyed.  Plus I've given up on the game tonight, signal keeps getting ko-ed.

That really stinks ... I really don't want another Manning win today.

Why the Manning hate?

I really don't know, Bud ... it's one of those irrational "Just makes me sick" things ... maybe the rivalries over the years, maybe the comparisons to and bashing of Brady, maybe all the sickening advertising and shameless promotion, maybe all the "Manning is God's gift to football" stuff ... but I still think it's just that irrational ugly thing ... I just plain don't like looking at them. (Well, we agree on most things, RR!) ;)

Its different for me. I'm Canadian so the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are my team and I hate at least half the CFL at any one time. NFL I like the Packers but tend to cheer for and identify with different players more. I've always liked Peyton.

Sorry to hear that, my friend ... I'm sure they'll get it fixed in time. I lived in NYC for a while ... did an internship there. I lived at 169 East 89th Street ... not a bad neighborhood ... but I was overwhelmed a bit, small-town Maine-iac in the big city. I used to get up at 5AM to go jogging, and to get away from the intensity, and even though the streets were quiet and no people, there was still that constant "throb" of the city that you can never get away from ... amazing. I love to visit NYC, there's nothing like it, but I wasn't made to live there for long periods. Boston was much more do-able for me, cuz it was big city, but you could still get away from the pressure without much trouble, and walk from here-to-there.

When it comes right down to it, (to be completely honest), when people like me hate someone like Peyton Manning, it's because he's a threat, and only a threat because he's so good ... so no need to apologize, RR. It's an anti-Brady thing mostly ... and the fact that they completely robbed us of a Super Bowl trip! ;)

Hey I'm hoping the Cards make Wells their feature back, he's on my Fantasy bench. I have Forte, Thomas and Rice besides him. Rice looks like an everyday starter but the other two have been disappointments.

Yeah ... I like Rice ... very athletic and good foot-speed. I haven't seen a lot of Wells, but what I've seen is very good.

Fitzgerald just slipped and fell down ... would have been an easy TD ... too bad.

There was a CFL game on Comcast a while ago ... really good football! I hope they have more.

It's a shame that play didn't work ... it was a beautiful pass by a non-QB!

Cardinals win on the road against a team that got the benefit of the refs calls.  I'd chalk that up to a good learning experience for that team.

What are people's thoughts on Alex Smith's 2nd half performance yesterday?

My thoughts: I think it is an aberration.  I still think Aaron Rogers is and will continue to be the better QB and that SF really messed up on that pick.
