this was one of the greatest films of the year without question. It was pretty hilarious, but that's not really why i liked it so much. It was a very interesting and realistic story. Very well written. My only critique is that i didn't like the ending. but other than that, its the best film i've seen in a long time.

I just saw this last night so i thought i would post.

The storyline was realistic and interesting but it kind of just dragged on, which I wouldn't have minded had it had a good ending. IMO, the ending was just....dull.

Watching it, i just didnt really laugh as much as i expected to. Seth Rogens character was boring and it was weird seeing Adam Sandler playing a rich snob.

I Thought the funniest part was the back and forth between Eminem and Ray Romano.

I give this movie a 7.8/10

Anybody see the episode of entourage where they spent the entire time Railing on Seth Rogan.  I thought that was one of the most entertaining half hours of television I have seen in a long long time.

I think I heard something about that on Conan O'Brien. What exactly were they saying?

I find it strange that anyone can succesfully rip on Seth Rogan. The guy is just awsome.

Basically Turtle was asking every female in the episode if they would have sex with Seth Rogan and calling him ugly the whole show.  And Drama said that Katherine Heigl had sex with him in "Knocked Up" because he was funny, to which Turtle said, "but she didnt know he was funny because they had just met, it was a one night stand." Drama responded, "Anybody that ugly has to be funny."  And so on

Haha. That just sounds brutal. I've never even thought of Seth Rogan as being "ugly"

I dunno, I always thought he was at least unfortunate looking.  But never did I think that he was remotely good lookin.

I love Appetow's stuff, and usually like Rogan (Liked: Freaks and geeks, 40 yr. old virgin, pineapple express, superbad, knocked up, undeclared; Strongly disliked: Zach and Miri; have not seen anything else). That said, I came away from Funny People thinking it was about a 7-7.5. I won't buy it unless I see a version with extensive extras for very cheap; I have no real desire to watch the regular movie again. Parts were quite funny, and I'm glad I saw it, and I certainly enjoyed it, but I didn't leave thinking I wanted to watch it 5 more times like with Pineapple Express, Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up, Superbad, Virgin, etc.

I think that Apetow is falling victim to a little too much creative control, writing, directing, and editing. With DVD technology the way it is, he should work on making 90-100 minute, really crisp movies and just having DVD releases with lots of extras.

ps-for my money, the funniest movie I've seen in the past two years is Role Models. Insanely hilarious.
