I'm saddened after reading about the passing of DMX (50 years old) today. He had a great blend of style for which he rapped to, which was only enriched by his raspy voice. It's a good thing I bought his "It's Dark and Hell is Hot" on CD, because I would have worn it out if it was a cassette.

Rolling Stone has a very good article regarding his life and career: https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/dmx-rapper-who-blended-aggressive-menace-with-emotional-sincerity-dead-at-50/ar-BB1ftMhC?ocid=spartan-dhp-feeds

I’m not sure that he was a good person, but he was a good rapper.  50 is too young.  I hope his loved ones find peace.

There weren't many entertainers bigger than him in my late high school/early college years.

Constant presence in the dorms my freshman year at BC.

My favorite song of his I listened to when I was younger. Rest In Peace DMX you've died too young.

He made a mark and I always felt his emotion, that in your face attitude as well as appeal was a bridge to other types of rap. Felt his impact opened things up for guys like Eminem who were in your face and used emotion as a drive for lyrics in a song. Now we may have gone a little far with emos but it was a k balance at one point.

"Slippin," "Ruff Ryders Anthem, and "How's it goin down" were some of my favorites as a kid.  That's sad, way too young.

I think that was his best album.  More substance and story telling than his music to get you hyped before a bball game.

Cool persona, great voice and sound effects, great energy, some great anthems, but one of worst rhymers to ever get popular.  I can't even listen to his songs with the classic beats because the lyrics are so pathetic.
