I also noticed that they play their opening game against a crappy team... the Clippers, what a joke!

The Lakers have already their win guaranteed on the ring ceremony night while usually the defending champions have to play against some competition (see the Celtics against the Cavs last year, the Spurs against the Blazers in 2008 or the Heat against the Bulls in 2007). It would have been much more logical to open the defense of their title against the Nuggets or the Blazers for example.
