Unlike Kobe's & Lebron's scripted public image, NBA star Allen Iverson chokes up as he talks about his scholarship program.  How come we never see this side of him on TV?

Come on don't be so cynical. He may have slipped now, but last time I checked Iverson was the 3rd all time scorer in NBA. Its hard to swallow your pride when you are still better than 90% of the players in the league.

Really? The NBA has 450 players. Please name 46 current players better than Iverson.

Iverson seemed genuine to me in this video, and quite moving.

It's true that he usually gets the blame on everything but maybe he should also accept the reality, which is that he has past his prime and that coaches and managers seem him mostly as a cancer. Maybe this reputation is unfair but it's certainly not by saying that he prefers to retire if some team offers him a backup role that he will prove the haters wrong, and show his true value to a team.

Eric Gordon may be better than AI soon but he isn't yet.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas is not better than Iverson.
T-Max being better than him is also questionable.

You hit the major points. He was genuinely saddened, but it was his doing.

Instead of feeling sorry for himself he needs to man up and take responsibility for his actions. Sure, he can decide to not play off the bench or not go to practice. But people will see what his character is like.

I do not presume to have insight into his character outside the NBA. But basketball wise, he has character issues. I give him props for game effort, but he doesn't play well with others. He doesn't understand synergy.

He's a crybaby, spoiled athelete. I wouldn't sign him to this team if he agreed to a minimum contract and be a role player. He kills team chemistry. the only good teams he's been on are ones that were built for him to do EVERYTHING.

Uh, I never question his greatness as an all time individual player. The problem is despite his skill level, he can still hurt your team. He might be among the top 10% of players in the league, but is he among the top 20% of players that the elite teams would want to add to their roster?

Not after the Detroit fiasco.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
