How about Desmond Mason?  He is an athletic swingman, who isnt too far removed from being able to score some points.  He cant shoot all the well, but he isnt that bad of an offensive player.  He is a decent defender.  I dont see how he is really that much different from a Dahntay Jones.

If all of the other swing man ideas fall through, what about him as a backup plan?

Tony Allen is better...Desmond had a 7 PER last year.  7.  That's atrocious.

He's taller than Tony and has had some decent seasons before ... seems like he'd be worth a look.

He's coming off of a major knee injury that ended his season last year.

Not sure what he can offer if he's lost a step or two.

Mason can't make a jump shot, makes him a poor fit.

He could be a decent second wing off the bench.

I would rather have Giddens or Walker using those minutes though.

Absolutely love Mason.  Smart guy. GREAT artist.  While at OSU he had art exhibits.

Nevertheless, while I would love to have him on the team, as he's a class act person, Walker or Giddens could bring as much if given the chance.  They may not do it in November or December, but if given the time on the court, by the end of the season they would bring more to the table than Mason would at that point.

I'm feeling them over Mason. I mean, Walker is almost Mason except with athletic ability still in the tank.

I don't want the C's to be in a position where they are depending on Giddens and Walker. I want two proven wings ahead of them off the bench.

The question is whether last year was an aberration or was it indicative of his play.  Two years ago, he would have been a very good defensive stopper for us.

Unlike Tony Allen, I am not worried about his lack of intelligence or maturity.

I'm actually warming up to Matt Barnes as long as people don't call him a good defender.  He is what he is and a good defender isn't one of the ways I'd describe him.

My preference is Marquis Daniels who can play SG defensively and PG offensively when Eddie House is on the floor.
