No one knows how either Flynn or Rubio are going to fare in their rookie seasons.  I heard an analogy that Div 1 NCAA is like baseball AA and that Europe is like AAA (and NBA of course is the big leagues).  Ricky Rubio averaged 8.6 pts and shot 38% in 27 AAA games.  How does that project to the big leagues next year?  I'd say 4 pts and around 30%.  He may be a star when he is 22 but at 18, he is not likely going to make any difference even to a team as weak as Minni.

As far as Flynn, he scored 17.4 pts and shot 46% in AA.  How does that project in the big leagues?  Better I think especially when you look at the players' physical strength.  Flynn is not likely a game changer either but he is much more likely to be able to at least bang with the bigger boys.

Minni may well trade either or both of these picks.  I think Rubio was a smart pick for value, even if he takes his ball and goes back to Europe for a year or two.  Curry may have been a more tradeable asset at number 6, I don't know, it just seems as though a lot more teams are hot on Curry than on Flynn.

Perfect he'll be huge bust in NY.  No hiding it there. Him and the guy with the bad back they took last year should make a very athletic 1/2 punch...

Looks like the Knicks could of had Rubio for Chandler.

In hindsight, the Knicks had some huge regrets Friday. Two weeks ago, they were convinced Rubio would be off the board at No. 5, leading them to turn down a deal that would have sent Larry Hughes and Chandler to Washington for Etan Thomas, Mike James, Oleksiy Pecherov and the No. 5 pick (New York would not have surrendered the eighth pick in that trade), and Washington ended up getting Miller and Foye for the pick.

Some pretty good offers being made for Rubio. Minny turned down Brooks and Battier from the Rockets http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/60155/20090629/rockets_offer_brooks_and_battier_for_rubio/

and might have turned down Harris and #11 from the Nets http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/basketball/nba/06/25/draft.day.blog/3.html
