If you had to trade one Celtics starter this off-season - who would you choose?

  • Rondo = Good
That's an easy question.  Ray is getting older.  Even though it's not fair to judge him totally based on his performance this post-season, where he had to be the 1st or 2nd option on offense when he works best as a third (getting open looks), he's probably only going to go downhill from here.  As an expiring contract, he's never going to be worth more than he is now, and we could maybe get something decent (younger, more athletic, bench guys we need etc) for him.

I don't believe we can afford to trade Rondo unless he is truly a huge problem in the locker room.  His potential is just too great and I don't think we'll get fair value for him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not thrilled about trading anyone in our starting lineup, but if I had to trade one of them, it would definitely be Ray.  The other guys are just too important.

I couldn't agree more. And don't get me wrong, I love Ray, but business is business and trading him is the best option for the organization.

At this point I'd trade rondo for a two good young players or one and a lotto pick.  Cannot believe the way Danny was talking about him, if any of what he was saying is true then he's not going to be a happy camper next season.

I heard all that beef about Rondo was from 2 years ago, not last season.

Honestly I would do the Rondo/Scal for Rudy Gay/ Mike Conley deal. Maybe we can through in Giddens and they through in the 28 pick.

Ray Allen in a 3 for 1.
Get back a decent starter at SG and two good to very good bench players in positions of need (SF, C).
Celtics fan for life.

The poll on polladium gets more visibility from not only Celtics fans, but NBA fans in general. If external links to polls are not welcomed, I will no longer post them!

You really have to trade Ray or Rondo.

Now is the time to get something back for Ray.  That being said Ray is and always will be one of my favorite players.

However,  if we keep Ray through this year - let his contract expire - guess who we are going to need to use that money on?

RONDO -  meaning we will be one year older with the same exact team - minus Ray Allen.

For the sake of the future - we need to get some young reasonable talent for Ray - or its 1 more and done.

Great poll !!! Polladium looks like a very cool site!

Ray is the no brainer here.  Is is againg, he can still play (which makes him attractive to other teams), and his contract is expiring.  All of this you all already know.  However, another reason I think it makes sense is because of the thoughts of the fans and the attachments they have as listed:

Rondo - came up with the C's, developed with us.
PP - Been here forever, staple of the C's for years, captain.
KG - Traded a boat load of core players, face of franchise, fan favorite.
Perk - Developed and drafted by Celtics, watched him mature (also not huge trade bait in comparison).

Agree with this final thought?  Disagree?
