The Perk/Walker for #2 pick makes a little more sense if;

1. We take Rubio with the 2nd pick (I still think mem would never do this, even with wallace at the helm)
2. We trade Rondo/Ray/Tony/Scal/Pruitt&Giddens to the Suns for Amare and Steve Nash

Our 2009 roster now looks like this

Nash/Rubio
Anthony Parker (MLE)/House
Pierce/Jaric
KG/Dice (LLE)
Amare/Hadaddai

Thinnest team ever, yes.
Ridiculous, yes.

Couple thoughts though; (1) if the suns are entertaining the idea of picking up rondo then there is no reason to keep Nash (I know he sells tickets), (2) veterans would come out of the woodwork to play for this team, for the minimum, (3) it would actually leave us in a pretty great spot come 2010 considering the Amare and Nash are expiring (I know we'd resign Amare) (4) I don't know, it makes at least a little bit of sense I hope

I'm not feeling it. I'd take my chances with just about anyone else over Nash, and even if the Suns did trade for Rondo, I don't think Nash would hang around much longer, anyway.

Although, Wilbon did say something about Nash retiring a Celtic. Meh. Who knows?

  • Rondo = Good
As much as I love Nash, I'd only really want him coming here if he's backing up the point or something...and even that wouldn't really make sense considering we have a young point guard who can play 35-40 minutes per game.

So I don't really see Nash coming here in a way that I'd like.

What an awful team lineup. We would have 0 chemistry.

Why would you want to destroy a championship team? You should go back in time and work for the Bulls.

You would have to rename that team the "Boston Porous Defenders" (except for at PF).

I'd do this. We may not win in the next year- but we'd be competitive. And it puts us in a great position for years to come - instead of having 1,2 years left in the tank and then we have to completely rebuild.

I'd rather make moves to stay good/great - then have put all our eggs in one basket for one season and then head back to suckville for another decade.

Our current lineup would easily dispatch this group. That means that 2-3 other teams would probably do the same. I don't like diminishing our chances of winning a title this year in order to be good in the future.

I'm not sure we'd be that good in the future. I haven't seen enough of Rubio to be sold on him, and I have issues with Amar'e. I'd love to have either but at the cost of this trade, no thanks.

I'm not feeling the Amare-KG tandem. That doesn't seem like a good fit to me...

Seriously. Steve Nash? Done. Amare? Totally unclear if he'll ever be the same the same after his eye injury, and he's a defensive liability to begin with. The Cs have NO chance to win a championship with this team.

How can you possiblely believe this is a good trade for the Cs now or ever?

I still think the Suns were idiots to not get KG for Amar'e when they had the chance. KG with Nash/Marion/D'Antoni.

I'm not really saying it would be a good trade, it's just a line of logic (albiet not very good logic) from the perk trade rumor and the amare for rondo rumor.

Clearly we'd be awful defensively, but it would be at least a very interesting series of events.
