Lets say Dumars is ready to shake things up and start over

He trades away Rip and Prince for Ray Allen and Tony Allen

Sign Ariza for 5.8. Sign Ben Gordon for 10 mil. Sign Boozer for 12 mil

Resign McDyess, Hermman and Maxiell

Pick up other small pieces such as Joe Smith, Drew Gooden , Kevin Ollie, etc

Stuckey, Kevin Ollie
Gordon, Tony Allen
Ariza, Ray Allen, Hermman
Boozer, Maxiell
McDyess, Gooden

This team would be deep and dangerous. And I think I have the numbers figured out with them still having money left over to get a better center and backup PG

Can't stop, Rondo!

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
How does replacing Rip with Gordon and Prince with Ariza make them better. Hamilton is better than gordon, Tayshaun is better than Ariza. They're both younger maybe, but that's about it.

And how does Ray become a backup small forward when the listed starting two is currently (and best served as) a sixth man and Ray is clearly a better player right now than Ariza? If they made that trade, Ray is instantly their go-to offensive option, or second behind Boozer.
Go Celtics.

Rip is absurdly overrated on this board.  Gordon is definitely better than Rip, as is Ray Allen right now.  These Ray for Rip trades need to stop.

O and yes, this new pistons team would be better than the older one.

What do you not like about Rip Hamilton?

I thought this post was gonna be about how the Celtics are becoming the next Detroit, win a title, stay in contention for a few years, trade for a headcase (hasn't happened yet obviously) and then fall off the face of the earth
