The only way Minny would do it is if it was

Bos Sends: Ray, Rondo, Perk

Minny sends: Big Al, Mike Miller, Gomes

Thats a pretty even trade , but Big AL is coming off a knee injury , so I am not to sure I would trade Rondo and Perk for him if I don't know that he is fully recovered.

Even? not by a longshot.  MIller and Gomes are the worst 2 players in the trade (still good players that I'd love to have on the C's but still not as good as the 3 players the C's are sending out) and Big Al is coming off a major injury.

I miss watching Al in the post and will always wish him the best but that ship has sailed.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I want Big Al here as much as the next guy, but I don't see any feasible trade that doesn't rip our squad apart without repairing it adaquately.

Giving up Perk, Ray and Rondo you'd have to get much more than just Big Al.  I'll bet McHale would consider Rondo for Al J., Certainly Rondo and Ray, and I wouldn't even do that one.
Maybe if we got Al J., Foye, Gomes and Minny's #18 and #28 picks.  I just value Perk and Rondo as the gods of future Celts, and Ray ain't shabby.

However, I'm a huge Al J. fan and I think he'd make a great 3-man rotation with Perk and Garnett, starting in place of Garnett down the road.

I have a better idea, sneak in Kevin McHale's office and slip a note of paper into his desk that says, "I'll definitely take less money now with that promise wink wink in the future, thanks Kevin McHale, this will stay totally secret forever, Love AL" - then tell the media about it, when they find the smoking gun - its damage control time - we send them Scal for Big Al and all our picks back

Perk=very good defensive center
al=not a very good defender on centers or pf

Our team needs perk or a center that can battle down low.  No disrespect to al.

I also think Perk's scoring average will climb for the next 6 to 8 years.

I don't think Perk will be a true low post option, he's a guy who get offensive rebounds and the occasional hook shot, but if you keep dumping it into him, he'll get doubled eventually and neutralized - I'd be very surprised to see more than 11 or 12 ppg for him over a season, without really developing a jump shot

That's what I think he'll start doing around age 26 or 27, hitting lots of short jumpers.  He has a nice one.

This trade blows up a championship-caliber team, and it's not even something Minny would do.

Let's keep keep our eyes on what's important, and that's winning a title next year. This trade would undermine our efforts to do that.
