Great fun to speculate about.

Of course, so is coming home and finding Scarlett Johanson sitting on your front porch.

Chris Paul is a scorer. We don't want our starting PG to score unless absolutely needed to. And hopefully with a healthy Celtics team, we won't need our PG to score.

He's an everything.  He can do everything.  With a great team around him he could do a lot.  Imagine his assist average with Paul / Garnett and a decent 2 around him.

Also, if we didn't have Ray, Paul would take up some of his former scoring duties.

I'm not saying this trade would happen but I wouldn't write it off as bad necessarily.  Paul is an MVP guy as others have said and a top 5 talent in the league.

Yes he can do everything. But we don't need a PG to do everything. So why would we give up/pay for a PG to do everything?

Makes no sense to me. He has MVP stats on a sub-part hornets team.

Perhaps our system doesn't require a dominant point guard, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt.  Also, of course, the present team needs aren't always going to be the same going forward.  As the "big three" retire (or are traded) we need guys capable of stepping into their roles.  Chris Paul would go a long way toward that.

Of course, CP3 isn't coming here, but it sure is nice to speculate about.

You don't think it will hurt to give up 2 out of our championship starting 5? Not even chemistry wise?

I think CP3 is a great deal better than Rondo or Ray; if we made this trade and signed Anthony Parker as a free agent, I think our team would be better than last year's, even prior to the KG injury.

In terms of chemistry, it's hard to say, but CP3 seems like the type of guy that would fit in just about anywhere.  Rondo and Ray both can have difficult personalities and they meshed well here, so I think Paul would, too.

I think we'd find a way to fit Chris Paul in.

Let's add this to the discussion, since we're just talking here.

Wouldn't NO owe us some filler to make that deal work?

James Posey, come on down ...

She's a little too chubby for my taste.

It took some work but I got it to work:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=nlpxa3
Allen / Rondo / Pruitt

for

Paul / Petersen / Daniels

ESPN gives this a +5 for the Celts a - 4 for the Hornets, essentially a wash.

It would actually be great considering Paul is going not going to make as much as ray and Rondo. They might just through in fillers like Poseyand a couple others or maybe they'll give us Tyson Chandler.

When one team gains 5 wins, and the other loses 4, that is not a wash.

If the goal is to get out of contracts, this might be a concept that works

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ne36v5

To Boston: Chris Paul, Peja Stojakovic, and James Posey
To New Orleans: Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine, and JR Giddens

Taking Stojakovic and Posey's contracts is a pain, but Paul is worth it.

The Rondo trade rumors are the single dumbest story in Celtics history.  There is no way they would trade the franchise's future for a quick fix or another PG.  These rumors make no basketball sense, as they would be left with Gabe Pruitt and Eddie House as our two PG's.  Someone make these rumors stop!
How are we left with only Pruitt and House at PG if we trade for a PG?

CP is NOT a quick fix. CP is a legit franchise player and the best PG in the league. If you can get him, you get him.

I just can't get enough of this rumor...makes me feel like I am 'cheating' on Ray and Rondo, but it is so good, I don't care  :D

Quick fix? Hahahahahaha.

Paul is 24, and Ainge coveted him enough at one time to propose moving Pierce to get him through a pick.

So what you're saying is, we have a better chance to win with a PG that can't shoot, than one we can?

We're better off with Rondo, who isnt an all star, than with an MVP caliber player??

Is the world spinning backwards????
