I think it is bogus...

Here is my take: Hornets, with 77 million and 65 million committed in 2010 and 2011, need to shred payroll. This is no surprise! They are in a small market; it's bad economy; they need to be the top 4 teams in order to have this kind of payroll. Demonstrated by chandler's trade last season, hornets is a willing trader. Naturally, they will be talking to teams.

Celtics came calling. Ainge loves chris paul; willing to trade paul pierce for him, only to be turned down by blazers in the last minute. ainge probably wasn't even calling about chris paul, but when hornets were asking about rondo/allen pacakge, ainge said that would only be remotely possible if chris paul was involved. Hornets probably hung up the phone after that. And now, we have a rumor!

Folks, it makes zero sense for hornets to trade chris paul... that's the only guy that is bringing in the fans!

Is this a rumor, or talk show speculation?

I agree with your assessment: it won't happen.

I think talk-show speculation. There is no way the Hornets would do this. I would absolutely love it though, especially as they'd need to throw in other contracts to make salaries match.

The rumor probably came from a reporter, who read it on celticsblog.

While I like Paul and everything I rather not trade our starting backcourt.

I hope all these talks quiet down, and the Celts just add the quality veteran bench players they'll need to go all the way next year.

  • Thank you Eddie!
The Rondo trade rumors are the single dumbest story in Celtics history.  There is no way they would trade the franchise's future for a quick fix or another PG.  These rumors make no basketball sense, as they would be left with Gabe Pruitt and Eddie House as our two PG's.  Someone make these rumors stop!

Having Rondo and Ray gives you a better chance to win than having Chris Paul. I'm not a big fan of this rumor at all.

I'd do it in a heart beat.

We would just need a 2 guard that can defend, offense with Paul, Pierce, and KG would be fantastic.

And - Paul is an MVP caliber player, not just an all-star - and if Rondo doesnt get a shot, I dont know how much better he can get - although I'm sure he'll become an ok shooter at some point.

Plus, I think CP3 will show up on time for playoff games and can be the face of the Celtics for the next 10 years.

I think Rondo's immaturity during the playoffs have really irked Danny.

Chris Paul is a scorer. We don't want our starting PG to score unless absolutely needed to. And hopefully with a healthy Celtics team, we won't need our PG to score.

While I don't enjoy how much he dribbles around holding the ball Chris Paul is far and away the best PG in the league.

If we could actually get him for a package centered around Ray Allen and Rondo we do it immediately.
