OK, Pageant Police here...I can't believe I woke to this poopfest. Yes, what one poster said was tasteless, but I'll take some of the blame on that as the idea of this to put yourself up on a pedestal. Though I'm not sure where it directly says knocking someone down was part of the initiative, it certainly has been welcomed in jest.  I do believe the comment was meant in jest, it's just a really tough topic to poke fun at.  Sometimes it's best to bite your tongue...and not run with the "Hey, if you can't joke about Cancer, then what CAN you joke about" theory.

Anyhow, please refrain from any further personal attacks either way.

I made the 164 mile drive down to Oklahoma City on November 5, 2008 in the middle of the week through a vicious thunderstorm with Hail and spinning cigar shaped clouds in Edmonds, OK. I got my 1st Celtics win in 7 years and turned around to went to work the next day on 3 hours sleep.

Now for the 18 signs that you are a Celtics fan and run on Green Koolaid:

1. You fell out of the Boston Garden rafters head 1st through the hoop, lost your basketball talent and came into life.

2. You have watched every game in the past 40 years or plan on doing so for the next 40.

3. You have been a member of all the Celtics blogs, messageboards, and discussion groups.

4. During the lean years, you memorized the probabilities of where you will pick.

5. In a triple OT game starting at 9:00 PM Eastern time and had to catch the 12:10AM train to South Acton, you said fudge it and stayed to the end of the game to see Glen McDonald hit his three buckets.

6. Bill Russell is the greatest basketball player of all time.

7. Phil Jackson's coaching record is bogus because he cherry picks his coaching opportunities. Red Auerbach built the team and traded two of stars for the draft rights to Bill Russell.

8. Antione Walker is the most talked about Celtics player in history and has been traded to every team for every player.

9. Your Celtic TV room has 17 Celtics Championship banners hanging down plus all the memorabelia.

10. Your child's first words are Larry Bird or Paul Pierce.

11. You wonder why that Chris Wallace picked Kedrick Brown ahead of Zach Randolph or Joe Forte ahead of Tony Parker. Then Chris Wallace turns around and tells you that the Celtics don't use a PG in their system and they traded Joe Forte for financial reasons (part of that Vin Baker) deal.

12. You favorited all of Johnny Mosts classic calls on Youtube.

13. You are watching old classic Celtic moments on Youtube instead of watching the Magic take on Lebron.

14. You are going over all the trade combinations with Scalabrine and the Allens to get the key bench player.

15. You have downloaded all the shows of Celtics Stuff Live.

16. The referees have been out to screw the Celtics since 1965.

17. The Celtics will win their 18th title in 2010.

18. At the end of your life, you take your favorite path (in my case the Clubhouse at St Andrews) to Boston Garden and Red Auerbach will greet you and hand you a Victory Cigar. And you become a leprecahn and listen to John Kiley play his organ.

I'm sure there are more reasons like you ignore your cardiologist who advised to stop watching Celtics basketball but I digress.

This is my life.... <sigh>  Well said Q

So, I believe the pageant is supposed to be fun? Moving on from the drama of that horrible post, I will give you my reason. It's unorthodox, but this is an actual conversation that took place recently.

O - "Come to bed"
A - "In a bit I'm busy"
O - "Doing what?"
A - "I need to respond to this thread and watch the game."
>silence<
O - "Fine, if you don't come to bed now I'm going asleep"
A - "And if I come now? What's in it for me?"
O - "Whatever you want."
>silence again<
A - "Seriously, this is an important game. I would love to but I can't... Whatever I want? Fair enough but I'm leaving the game on in the background"

OK, so, what you can infer from this is that I am dedicated, but not stupid. Dedicated in the sense that it was game 7 of the Magic series and I had an exam 5 hours after the game ended. Not stupid in the sense that when I see an opportunity I grab it.

Reward common sense people.

I'm not voting for you out of sheer jealousy!!!   ;)

I don't know. cdif is the creator of the greatest threads in history. RG is the Sig Genius. FL is the lady of CB. BT is a personal fav of mine and Nick has posted pics of the cutest pets. Edgar and Redz are pure evil, Thumper is hilarious, Rebus is Canadian and SSF came back.

Basically, you voters have a tough job. Just vote for me so you don't kick yourself for voting against one of those guys. Vote against all of them!

I just went for a walk, didn't mean to, but I ended up by Will's old place, and I... I couldn't help but look up to see if the lights were on. I knew they wouldn't be, but I had to look, it wasn't the darkness, it was the absence of light that got to me. Next thing I knew I was going to all our old places, the park where we first met, the ice cream parlor, that little coffee shop that was our special place. Every time the door opened I kept looking up, hopeful, only to have my heart ripped from me yet again.

After about an hour of sitting around, hoping against hope, I realized Will was gone. I decided to get some air, walked down the old train tracks, kicking pebbles, sipping cheap whiskey from my paper bag wrapped bottle. When I heard that familiar sound of a Train coming my way, I stood there frozen not sure what to do without Will. Thoughts swirled through my mind, dark things, things I never thought possible. But no, this isn't what Will would want, Will always saw the best in people, things, he would want me to be strong. So I moved, I had to, it's what Will would have wanted, it's all he would have settled for. He was right, I knew he was.

I wandered for a while longer, before staggering home to watch the shell of the Celtics, it wouldn't be the same. Sure the team was still there, but was it? How could they forget him so quickly, how could they move on? Why can't I?

TPs coming Big Tickets way...

However, I understandably can't look past a CB member who every gameday goes through an elaborate process of breaking down every matchup and personal connection between every player and coach on the roster, with keys to the game and everything else involved. For over 100 games a year, with preseason and postseason. I did a fake game thread once using her template, and it was incredibly difficult. FL gets the vote.
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

For all that happened,
Big Ticket will get my vote.

BT sent me a PM respectfully asking that he not be considered for voting in the TP Pageant.  Basically, the TP Pageant probably wasn't the ideal place to post his sentiments, but it is entirely appropriate to share your "real life" stuff here on CelticsBlog if you feel comfortable doing so.  He just needed to say what he needed to say, and that's OK.

BT doesn't want to take away from what should be a fun thing.

If you have any thoughts you'd like to express on Cancer or in support of Big Ticket's Mom you can either use a personal message, or go to a dedicated thread on Cancer awareness

http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=21106.new#new

or just say a prayer if that's your thing.

Let's respect his wishes and leave the silly stuff for the TP Pageant, and the real life stuff for someplace else.

OK?
Yup

I created the Sasha Vujacic parody video.

I created the CelticsBlog map.

And I'm the only French guy of CelticsBlog, I think. I don't know if it means anything and if it's positive or negative, but I had no other idea to justify my candidature. :P

It will be hard to vote for someone tough, so much great/intereseting/funny/surprising guys all around!
